Any ideas.......

Found this at the end of a freight train recently.
From my trip out on the failed Street running contest.





Thought it was an interesting piece of equipment.
Also had 15 cars following along behind it.

I'm not sure what it is or what it's for.
Wondering if anyone else might have some insight.

Impressive! Is there a conveyor system that runs the full length of the train beneath the hoppers? Jamie

 

Yes, this thing is impressive, you can unload all 15 cars in about 45 min's.
