Aw come on. Buy the lady a dress. Treat her like a thoroghbred and you may get...(can't say that here)...ahh, what you want!

I had to think it over and then it hit me. Another approach may be needed. [IMG]

Have fun and maybe we will get to see the two of you (with her in her new dress) at the next train show! [IMG]

I can't wait for wife 2.0! I was unsucessful with several "service patches" to fix problems with wife 1.0..........

  4. Well, I've had this wife for 40 years now. We stayed married because it took us a while to find each other, and if we divorced, we figured we'd never be able to find anybody else who would want to have us.

Besides, she says she has me trained now and wouldn't want to do it all over again - it was hard enough the first time, and where else could she be all those management positions? Oh, one other minor point - we love each other.

As for the second dress, if I bought her a second dress she would just want something else. Have you ever known a woman who had only one item on her "I want" list? She also told me she wants a new can opener. Can't understand why, just a few turns of the wrist and wholla, the can opens.

As for wife 2.0, I bought the expensive model the first time and it comes with automatic upgrades and great technical support.

Build that huge layout, then when you find that girl she can't take the extra bedroom for her doll collection.

Ah. You have the old analog version. Same here. For 33+ years, she's rarely grumbled about my N scaling. Even brought home a few surprises for me.

So, think I'll keep this model. Even though not upgradeable, parts are hard to get, and maintaining her is getting little more difficult with the passing years.....

I, myself, am still learning version 1.0. However, during my studies, I have acquired addons 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. This alone accounts for the lack of progress on my own railroad. :(

Having said that, I'm definitely not looking for an upgrade! [IMG]

Hell, I just wish my wife was interested in my passion for my trains. It would be a lot less lonely in the trainroom.

    Stephen,
Maybe after my move to Great Falls, MT in January.... Grey One has a project planned for me, too.

I have wife 1.0, and am not looking to upgrade. After Child 1.0, Wife 1.0 is definitely a keeper. Not so much expensive, but the time invested in acquiring wife 1.0, and the labor in making marriage 1.0 work well is well-worth the investment. I'm looking at 5 years in January for Wife 1.0 and myself.... :D

  10. My wife isn't big on trains either but she says she would rather be with me then stay home alone, since our kids are up and out on their own.

Actually, she's a big help. At train shows she answers questions and watches the layout while I do clinics. While I was building the layout, she was very encouraging and made suggestions on materials to use and building techniques. She came up with some great ideas....

She may be the old analog model, but she is consistent, needs little maintanence, and a great traveling companion.

You can see the old analog model at the GATS show in Del Mar in December and the Worlds Greatest Hobby show in Salt Lake City in January 2006.

I'm still browsing and taking some models for a good test drive. Some are nice, others seem a little rough around the edges. Still haven't settled on one. [IMG]

I don't mind when mgmt. goes out for some purchases. I like working without mgmt. around. Of course, one of my 4 supervisors is always around to remind me that "that's not how mom.....errrr....the mgr. does it!"

The management of the Sugar Land Route takes full responsibility for getting the railroad going again. Over twenty years ago the railroad had fallen on hard times with train offs and abandonments leaving mostly old equipment lying around. Capital was provided for investment and I was encouraged to bring the company up to the state of the art by consulting with off site experts (other modelers) and attending industry conferences (conventions and train shows). The management has no regrets and often informs visitors of its part in the turn around.

  16. Wig-Wag,

See you at Del Mar. I'll try not to run over your booth with my truck again....sorry 'bout that....

who understands women ? my lady forced :D me to buy a g scale sd40-2 a few years back. then a gp38-2, then another gp38-2......

then i was trained and continued buying g scale stuff as well. now with 24 locos and 70 cars she complains about all the boxes and space they eat up.

if we do what the wife want she'll complain. if we don't she'll complains as well.

for all you single guys out there. wait until women are powered with windows... then click on start to shut them down ....
