Hello to all members. I am new member of TrainBoard and also to HO MODEL RR. I need advice as to go with either Dc Or DCC. What is the difference and which would be better. Thank you .:tb-confused:grandpa
grandpa- Welcome to TrainBoard! Choosing between the two may depend upon what you plan for the railroad, and your budget. Will you have a fairly extensive assortment of motive power? Large empire requiring multiple operators? Or something small which you'll mostly be operating alone? Boxcab E50
I will be operating alone on a site approximately 12x4 feet. Ihave no rolling stock yet. Just planning .What is the difference between Dc & DCC? Iplan on maybe 4 or 5 Locos and variety of rolling stock.. Thank for ur reply.. appreciated grandpa
There a many facets of DCC, but for starters with DCC you can control several locomotives independently of each other. Each loco has what is called a decoder and it communicates with the power station through it's own address. Just change your address and you can then control another decoder equipped loco. Dcc also allows for control over many aspects like sound, switches, light control etc. through the power station. You are very limited with DC system in my opinion, but if you plan on only running one loco at a time it would be the cheaper way to go.
With a 4ft width, you might have some tight curves so keep that in mind too when looking at Engines and rolling stock. :tb-nerd: :tb-nerd: :tb-nerd: :tb-nerd:
Welcome to TrainBoard, grandpa. I think DCC is the future. I like it, with DCC you have more choices. You can run your engines with light and sound. Running an engine with your ears is another level.
