Better off using an Atlas track nail than a straight pin? Dunno. If you use T pins on the outsides of the rails to hold the ties down you could run your trains.
Able Assist Another long day and I apologize for getting back on line so late. JDETray, Hit the pin on the head. The straight pin is precisely what I was talking about. I've also seen the T head used on HO scale layouts. Thanks to JDETray and SackOHammers for their able assist. This proves we have some great gals and guys here on line at TrainBoard.
