case in point: http://www.ebay.com/itm/380932918046?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT 37 years old...seller claims new as per wheels clean.. according to spookshow:

A 1977 1924 . Con-Cor Rivarossi (Italy) 2-8-4 Berkshire

The seller also states: "it is also a great hauler." In order to know this, they'd have needed to actually use it, beyond simple testing. So is it actually new? Or in reality, used?
He also says that he has taken it out of the box and test run it, then says it is new. He let the factory air out, turned the armature (so it really isn't new anymore), and put it back.
BoxCab and Jeff after some more mental processing of this and reading through his feedback comments I would say that this seller is not all that knowledgeable about model railroad equipment and that he has been more than lucky that his feedback has only included one neutral and no negatives seems he does more accepting of lower offers than standing firm with his pricing and that most items sold are not in the current listing's price category. thus, I have decided to ignore this possibility for a purchase and keep looking elsewhere thanks for you notes they are spot on and the very things I questioned him about in email to which he replied with the "jewelers loop/clean wheels" looks new post. sincerely Gary
This has to be some of the worst weathering I've ever seen... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Life-Like-N...681983?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item3f38c9b1bf
there is "rust" orange and there is "pumpkin" orange one is for weathering the other for pie ;-) Gary
I wonder how best to clean up such a mess? It was reported someone bought it, so I'm guessing they either plan on a major rehab, or just using it as parts.
More a 'blast from the past' than humor (the seller starts auctions at a very reasonable opening bid, often just one cent). How many of us still have items with stickers from the dear departed Two Guys From Harrison? http://www.ebay.com/itm/RETIRED-New...406757?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item58b1a38925 I know I do. And yes, one could buy building kits for 49 cents back then! I think the 'bus stop' kit might have been 29 cents! This was all part of Two Guys' legendary After-Christmas Sales, for which they would put out case upon case of model trains.
