I always laugh when I see the phrase, "High Auction Value ..." Almost never say the date some sucker er collector paid the price.
Just like on some many 'reality' TV pawn shows...people come in saying 'I saw people selling these for $$$ on line', response was 'is that how much they were SELLING or how much they were ASKING for it?'. You can ASK any amount, what the item is worth is what someone else is willing to pay.
Of course a pawn shop cannot pay retail, as they need a margin for resale. Any person who comes in with an item becomes, more or less, a wholesaler.
No humor here Hi All, With the announcement to MP closing (two threads already on TB about it) I figure that eBay will now have a ton of "Rare", "Vintage", "Limited", etc., MP items at prices that are out of sight. Nothing but greed! Gary
Not so far, as I mentioned in the MP thread. Place your bets now! Bonus points if you correctly guess which of the, ahem, less reputable sellers, is the first out of the gate.
This one looks in tip top condition. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIFE-LIKE-I...877795?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item58aedd8f63
This is "optimistic" enough... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Atlas-n-sca...415205?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item338daf68e5 (BTW please note that the above is NOT a past, present or forthcoming MTL Special Edition series-- as far as I know) But this one is REALLY "optimistic"... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bachmann-54...750063?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item4ad3f6d9af
I would have to assume this one was not as rare !!!! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bachmann-n-...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Mike
