It seems to depend on the popularity of the roadname: An A-B set of Milwaukee Road Eries went for $360 recently, and a single A-unit went to $130. A single ATSF A unit hit $100, while 2 seperate C&NW single A-units both stayed under a hundred. I was actually drooling of the C&NW unit because the paint scheme actually looked really attractive.
I was a bidder on those lifelike Milwaukee engines....no , I didn't win them BUT , I have 7 ABA sets of my own , some are painted with the stainless steel nose pieces which is exactly what I was planning with these units. The disturbing part is that the locmotives were far from mint condition I really thought they would sell for much less. Can I assume that my sets could make me a couple grand ? Randy
You could very well at least make an attempt, if you are willing to part with them. Custom painted, or well detailed versions would probably go even higher. I was watching that set, too, and really, the only thing wrong with them were the aftermarket diaphragms applied to them which were poorly done, but could have been easily removed. And, also, the horn on the A-unit was almost broken off, but it wasn't even the right horn style for the Milwaukee anyway.
Wow, Neither rare nor custom painted. http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-EMD-SD...512219?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item19d65ba35b
Wow. I wonder who the sucker is who'd fall for that old P-O-J? I sure remember those, as they'd jiggle their way down the tracks. Awful, awful, awful, even back then.
$175 for that? I wouldn't even put it in my bad-order/retired loco track if I got it for free. http://www.visi.com/~spookshow/yugosd45.html
Check out this auction....described as something for a person with a sense of humor. not sure I could put that on a family friendly layout. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Condom-Fact...423480?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item416e996f38
Okay. I knew these are RARE and I have a couple of them myself for a future layout. But this price! YIKES! I have NEVER seen one sell for this much! http://www.ebay.com/itm/eSPee-AHM-5...237268?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item1e745c7d14
Didn't sell for $600, factory air and free shipping included. Now, do I hold onto it some or do I reduce the price and relist? Also, someone who claims to have 12 of these keeps messaging me wanting to talk.
Alright, who's the smart-alec who listed this? Has got to be one of the jokers here testing the waters. There can't be any other explanation. http://www.ebay.com/itm/130809166248
I dunno, I've sold lots of Atlas trucks with Accumates in the past, along with other brands with rapidos. One of the lots of rapidos, guys got into a bidding war and paid somewhere around $50 for a ziplock sandwich bag of them, wanna say there was something like 25-30 sets in there.
OK, didn't notice the second picture. Thought it was just for the one. Still in all, $7.75 for shipping? Still doesn't smell right.
Why pay $15.99 when you can pay $325? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Micro-Train...-box-car-Illinois-Prairie-State-/330816089239 http://www.ebay.com/itm/MTL-Micro-Trains-21320-Illinois-1818-/130162748229 Well to save 15 cents in postage of course!
From $15 to $325 is quite a spread. I had heard the MT Illinois cars were pretty rare, and even see some others for the $51 range. Whose to know what "fair market value is?"
