Well folks, I have a quick question for those of you who are vetrin G scale modelers. What couplers do you use. I have come to the conclusion that the Bachman knuckle couplers are pretty much worthless. So what do you use?
bachmann, usa and aristo products don't go together. that's why i converted most of my locos and cars to kadee couplers. never had unwanted uncoupling since then
Hi Sean I just like running trains so I stick to Aristo couplers. They work well enough for me and they come real cheap. If I were to do a lot of switching I'd turn to kadee O scale couplers. They're smaller and you don't notice the odd shape of the mounting assy. Dave
Sean, the later Bachmann couplers with the metal pin work fine. And the old ones are OK if your track is reasonable. Most of the folks who grizzle about uncoupling usually have track that is up and down with unexpected changes of grade at joiners etc. I've been running B/mann couplers for 8 years outside, only hassle is when a leaf or twig trips the release pin. There have a couple of articles in GR mag about ways to cure the old ones too, but I've never found the need
On my Rookwood Central Railway, with ten locomotives and sixty items of rolling stock, I have standardised on Bachmann knuckle couplers, with no problems, perhaps I do have well laid track? but these are much cheaper than other brands and they can be fitted to most other brands easily.
