I did notice on your album that there is a Northern Light & Power in the works. You do have a large area at the top level to add some places for you railroad to serve. The coaling tower and water tower should be together somewhere though.... preferably on a siding.

Looks like a layout under construction. Could the problem be that it's not finished yet?

Miss Dee Rail has good eyesight!

Everybody knows that it takes at least SEVEN ore cars and a caboose to push those big Alcos around the layout.

Pennsy diesels all over the place but the steamer is not a prototypical Pennsy loco.
    Do I win the prize?

Nah, don't think so. Fotheringill and me are just laying back and harboring our energies waiting for Rick Nicholson to start the Layout Party.

To the right of the PA on the viaduct, it looks as though there is a piece of HO trackage ?

Actually, if those are PA's, PRR did regear its PA's for freight service in the 1960's, and repainted them back into DGLE. Those engines are in DGLE, so they're in freight service. They were mostly used on transfer runs around Philadelphia, but Philly did have an ore pier. How the Simplon Tunnel got over on this side of the Atlantic (that's a tunnel portal for it in the photo) is a good question, though.

To me, the problem with the picture is that this is not my layout! I'm still remodeling the layout room.

I have been taking myself too seriously of late with my shay and it was time to lighten up a bit. The original intent of the picture was to show Pete that I was, indeed, able to have my sensitive Kato PA1&PB1 run without derailment on 9 3/4" track, the wrong thing that I saw was that it was pulling six tiny ore cars. I then began to fully see the "wrong" in the picture as I was reading the responses [IMG]

To answer each of you who took the time to look and respond, I will comment ad seriatum:

Nscale_lover- Indeed, the first thing wrong with the picture is that I forgot to link the picture.
Dee- All too true, but not good enough since it was a repeat of post right above yours.
Russell- If I even thought about what you said, it would put back my progress another three months.
Lion- You took that extra step and made the thread more enjoyable by actually posting the picture.
Magic Man- I am, by nature, messy. Ok for some work, terrible for bed.
Ms. Dee Rail- The cork is missing since the still is in the closet and a new batch was ready to be bottled or jugged or whatever it is called.
Traindork- Tunnel motor not ready to be installed, yet. As you can see, the tunnels are not finished. There is no reason to install the motor when one can just push the trains through the tunnels by hand.
Russell- You obviously have too much time on your hands. You double posted and you blew up the picture or your eyes are a lot better than mine. Correct answer on the passenger diesels pulling a very light ore load.
Eagle2- 1. Correct answer 2. Correct- I am very good at detail work. I didn't think anyone would see that. 3. The LLL just had another lesson. The drivers need certification??? 4. The spout is on the water side. The water view is so much better from that side. 5. Yes- Rust is certainly Penn Central central color. 6. As I made up half of mine.
Nscale_lover- Penny is in the hopper. A little cash and carry cargo does not hurt the yard master one bit, or in this case, 1/25 of two bits.
Pete- I just filled the ubiquitous glue tower. I have a two gallon jug for these emergencies. Correct answer on the passenger power pulling the ore.
Magnat- 1. No smash possible until I turn power onto the siding as well as the main. Something I am prone to do. The other is to back the caboose into the virtual water behind it. 2. Via duck? Vye not a goose? I ain't up to water, yet. I just finished the trackwork. 3. The blue towery looking thingy is actually not a tower at all. It is a clamp holding together two portals glued together and drying 1/4 of a bottle of glue. But, it could be a coaling tower. If hot enough, anything will burn blue. 4. The layout is not too big, it is only a matter of perspective. When this part done, I will call in bulldozers, dig out 50 feet in each direction after foundation is broken up and remove and do a Pete Nolan 17,490 running foot long triple decked layout, spreading in each direction. My goal is to go away on vacation for three weeks and arrive back home just as each train reaches its original destination.
Lion- I used a reverse draft double reflective camera, which all 14 people in the room who were posed, thought their pictures were the ones being taken. Come on over. You can explain the difference between millimeters and inches to me.
Pete- There is nothing left to solder. All tools are now carried by me on my belt. Since the tools are all made from metal, I just glued two rare earth magnets to the front of my belt and all are held there by the magic of magnetism. I should have put the cap back onto my Exacto, though, it was a near personal tragedy.
CalZephyr- Correct on the wrong power pulling the ore. I ripped up the top level and got rid of the figure 8 and put in some straight track for industry and a passenger station. You are most correct on the faults in the layout. I will have to have a second passenger station in the middle of the virtual river on the lower level so passengers may detrain, detain or derail if I forget to throw a switch.
Bob- I have mastered all. No need for a picture, as you said. I have changed all couplers on every car and locomotive I have. I have restrung all the tender pickup wires. I have changed all wheels, trucks, and grab irons to be perfect and in period for the LLL. I have disassembled, cleaned, oiled and reassembled every one of my 32 engines, including, but not limited to side rods, side rod pins, changed all lights to correct color, repacked bearings and installed DCC in each. The decoders were put into the engines in the smokeboxes. In the diesels, I handcrafted smokeboxes and made them fit seamlessly. I fixed all wobbles, changed all wheels and axles on engines to the NWSA (or whatever the place is called) with their finest. I DID ALL OF THE ABOVE TWICE AND WAS BLINDFOLDED BOTH TIMES.
Fluid- Did Stourbridge Lion post a different picture? What hidden tracks? The trains go through the unfinished tunnel portals and come out elsewhere. The only problem I now see is having to lay the tracks down under the top rear deck of the layout.
Grey One- There are no wires. I cut all the damned wires and removed them two nights ago. They were only getting in the way when I fall asleep under the benchwork, at night. THERE IS NO SHAY???????????? There is always at least one wiseguy in the crowd. Since I realized I was taking myself too seriously and after reading your post, I flew down to Nashville, broke into the Fed Ex sorting center and reclaim my package which was on its way to Atlas. So what if it doesn't work. It will look just grand sitting there next to my missing passenger station.
Calzephyr- Power station has to go on lower left level - coal mine on top- otherwise it would be a very short haul from one to the other.
Boxcab- I guess I didn't touch up the photo enough. What do you mean "Not Finished"? Of course the monkey has good eyesight, she is a monkey.
Starbuck- Right on target. Who needs a shay anyway?
Benny- What are you, an eagle eyed interior decorator? Thank you for sharing that observation. If my wife reads this thread, I know what I will be doing in the morning instead of just sitting around and sulking over my erstwhile shay.
emacjis- Yes- That was the main answer. I just laid it right there for everyone to see. It will be prototypical as soon as I get rid of the decals, paint it and place the LLL proudly on its side.
By the way, the prize is coming over to my house and showing me how to install a pilot coupler.
Ed- Yes- energy conservation is my goal. As soon as I finish my coal burning power station and my cloal mine, I will abandon both and send each of my steam engines to the scrap heap for being inefficient.
Doofus- I am N. I ain't no ho. If there is, my HO brother in law sneaked in and laid it right there. No wonder I had so many derailments the last few days.
Thirdrail- You have redeemed me in the eyes of all. You know things. I am in awe. The portals, to be serious for a moment, were unfinished left overs from the layout I started to build for my daughter 25 years ago. I know they are incorrect for the layout, but I promised here I would when I took up the hobby again a year ago. By the way, the box (in my hand) says Pola-N #270. I painstakingly got the detailing on the stone and brick exactly as shown on the box cover. The portals even came with black flexible plastic to keep the inside dark.
David- It is not leaving my house until I go out in a body bag and widow sells it without reserve on E-Bay.
Comet- You are too kind. You are much more of a gentleman than Benny, who looks at the paint job and not the layout. I have, at times, seen pictures posted here of the inside of garages, the underside of benchwork, water heaters in the middle of a layout, and one hell of a shot of Nolan's rear end. I didn't see Benny make a post about any of the above, just my son in law's sloppily completed paint work. It must be the karma of the room, I had to do my trackwork three time before it was acceptable to me, no less Mr. Benny eagle eye.
Lenny- I guess you are not real particular. You drink with a monkey. It is ok, though, for 23 years I was married to a mule.

To All- If someone posted after Lenny, I will add a response. I have been here for about an hour composing this post. I would like to thank you all for your answers and reminding me that if I can't laugh at myself, I might as well give up.

    Mark,
I started to mention the all too absent Shay but relented when I had the same feeling of getting too serious about it. The USPS confirmed delivery of mine to Atlas last Friday.

Hey! We get to go back to the excitement and anticipation of a receiving ours just like a month ago.

It's like deja vu all over again!

Nope. It was the Only thin gin the entire Picture that I couyld find that was even slightly incorrext. And just about the only think none modelrailraoders will notice as well. A)Get a Backdrop or B Paint it. Paint will fix this in the longer term, though a backdrop will hide it a while longer, but becoem your headache in the future ;) And it looks like it is Behind the layout...Imagine a fully scenic, fully wired, pet Nolan Sized layout, and suddenly she say "Honey, you messed up the cabinet door," which of course looks just fine to you or me!
