I have a Proto 2000 GP9 that I want to modify into a Santa Fe GP9 with the Topeka cab and chopped nose. Does anyone make a kit to do so?

"Topeka cab" is a term given to the cabs put on chop nose GP 7s & 9s built in the Santa Fe shops there. Perry Lambert of Santa Fe Prototypes Yahoo Group is working on them now.

Wouldn't hurt to become a member so you can keep up w/ the progress & read all the posts about the cab.

It appears that Mr. Blackman has been around since 2002. He's from the San Antonio which is great railroad country. I've never been that far south but it's on my list of future travels. He was probably teasing us about not know what a "Topeka" cab was.

Got it and thanks for the info. I know what a rebuild looks like; I had never heard it called a Topeka Cab. Probably a Santa Fe term. The Illinois Central did this chop nose type, too, but they may be slightly different? The Topeka cab looks sort of like a snoot nose to me.
