So, I've got the big red book, The MR Diesel Locomotives drawing book.

Unfortunately, it doesn't contain. SD40, SDP40, or SDP45. You'd think at least the SD40 would be in there. I've been googling for drawings of these, with no luck.

Anyone know where I can find drawings of said locos?

What measurements are you looking for? Even the EMD general arrangement drawings (used in the product catalogs as well) only have basic dimensions. I have pretty much all the six-axle 40 series general arrangements...

I think that the Carstens book "Loco 1 - the Diesel" has those drawings in it, reprinted from RMC back from the 60's and 70's. I've got a copy, if you can't find them anywhere I'll dig deeper.

mainly wheel/truck base.. sd40 vs sdp40, etc.. I did check out

    EMD SDP40 Data Sheet

    SDP40:
    Distance between Truck Centers 53'-07"
    Center Bolster 40'-00"

what is this "distance between truck centers"?

Disregard that measurement on thedieselshop... for starters, they're not consistent in what exactly they're measuring, secondly, they're not measuring true truck centers.

In this case, it's the distance between the front bolster and the rearward axle center, in other cases, they're measuring the distance bewteen the forward and rearward axle centers...
