I am trying to make a Rail Images page, but I cannot figure out how to post pictures on it. How do you edit a new album? </font>
have you registered for an account? If you have first ensure you can login. </font>
I have registered and can log in, but when I try to upload pictures they dont show up in the albums
No, I am in Fallujah, have been here about the last 6 weeks. We have been extended until after the elections so I don't expect to get back to that side of the water until March.
Well, it's good to hear from you. Stay safe, and keep your head down.... Are you able to do any modeling stuff over there?
No, work 16-18 hour days. Plus, we are now in an old bombed out and looted facility. Our sleeping quarters don't have heat or electricity so there isn't too many places to do anything. Do sit down from time to time and design different layouts but that is about it.
Thanks, I'm trying. It's kind of like lightning, if it gets you it gets you. Had the distinct pleasure of running over an anti-tank mine the other day. Was in an armored vehicle so it just kind of rang my bell. Makes you appreciate sitting at home in a lazy boy with a beer though.
Great to hear from you Tony! We are all thankful for your sacrifices. Here's my few open top loads: A Hay Bros. Load in a reworked Rapido DB gon: and here's a Rapido load with blocking and bracing added on a Red Caboose flatcar:
Comon, folks, show off your rolling stock loads! Here's a 12"=1' scale load: Check out the realistic weathering job!
Tony - God bless you and your fellow brothers over there. We truly appreciate your sacrifices for our freedom! Stay safe! Here is a H&D load on an eastbound SP freight approaching Tehachapi Loop (on a MT centerbeam): And a HaysBros kit on a RC Centerbeam:
Not terribly prototypical: Does anyone know of, or have pictures of, a well car being used as a depressed-center sorta-flat-car? I'm trying to figure out if I can disguise the camera load as something a little less...camera-like.
Or with "canvas" Maybe several layers of tissue? Perhaps the bottom layer, (next to the equipment), plastic wrap and then several layers of a canvas like material with a glue / water mix to hold the shape. Finish off with "chains" of some sort. Disclamer: 1) I have never done something like this 2) Please practice on somethng else first. Looks great!
Tony, great to hear from you, we will be glad when you are stateside again in one piece! Thanks for sharing your great loads. Dave, you make me miss Tehachapi every time you post...thanks for sharing. Hemi, thanks for the great pics, ROTFLMAO on your message! Here are a few more pics of my own just to keep things rolling, in honor of Tony and his fellow patriots: Here are some military loads, starting with GHQ's wonderfully-detailed Sherman tanks. Looks like one of the chains has broken free...hmm, is that prototypical? Tank destroyers were faster and had lighter armor and higher-velocity guns than typical tanks. The models are from Minifigs. Here is a pair of Priest howitzers from Minifigs on an Atlas flat car. Heavy armor was chocked with big wood blocks, with additional blocs spiked along the sides of the tracks or tires to keep the load from shifting. Then cable or chains were attached to clevis attachments on the frame. Here's a detail shot of how I simulated this. We wrap up the armor section with a pair of GHQ half-tracks. Let's see more loads...[^]
Tony, great to see you post, stay safe and say G'day to the aussie contingent over there. Here are 3 types of loads on my layout. 1. Coal load in my Roundhouse hoppers. 2. Transformer load on Alan Curtis low load flat top. 3. Logs on Alan's logging cars.
