Same as what I did when I built my pair of sar/Kaslo Shops F45 kits.
BTW, I bugged Kato for a few more models, the E5, SD45, and PA-1s in D&RGW 4 stripe....

Alright, I submitted the request. I also suggested the black nose stripe version versus the later chinese red. 9 out of 10 Q fans surveyed prefer the original black stripes.

True, I didn't think about that when I suggested it to Kato. I only get the black stripes E-units. I'll probably send kato another request. Thanks for brining that up. If they made an E5ABA set I would buy 5 sets. Keep 3 aba sets and keep 4 extra a's and sell the 2 b's. YES YES YES of course renumber/rename them.

I am not sure that the Black Stripes would be the most popular....the Red ones are so pretty....
But the Black Stripe units cover the most time frame.... the Red Stripes didn't appear until after the first Chinese Red started to appear on the railorad.... 1959. The Black
units didn't all get repainted right away (if ever) and I recall seeing both well into 1964-65.
I would suggest they do the Black first and then come back with Red later... if any more Q E Units are considered.... (the F3s went into freight service wearing Black and were repainted into the "Grayback" freight scheme without ever seeing the Red Nose Stripes).

Here's my take on it Charlie. If Kato released an E5 in conjunction with a prototype passenger consist, then it would strongly suggest a black stripe version. By the time the red stripes appeared, most or all of the passenger consists were being cut down with changes like the observation cars going away. If they do a full passenger consist, then it should be ran behind the correct engines. Just my .02 worth.....

On the other hand, if Kato does an E5, I'll buy multiple copies even if they have pink nose stripes! :tb-biggrin:

Lots of talk about E-units. But this is the first one I'll get>>>>E5. Burlington Route.

Is there any more threads on stainless steel trains. :)

I just put in the requests to Kato for the E5, Denver zephyr, california zephyr 6/5 sleeper. Any thing stainless steel.

How many people actually put in requests these? If so which ones.:tb-tongue::thumbs_up: Thanks Trainman5 for the link.
