Because of the spacing on my double track bridges, and other reasons, I am going to need to do some cutting and splicing together of Chooch cut stone bridge abutments. This has lead to a few questions.

    • Has anyone else tried splicing Chooch abutments together, and what kind of success/failure resulted?
    • How likely are these things to break and crumble when cut with a razor saw?
    • What is going to be the best glue for holding the spliced pieces together?
    • Is there a readily available, no mixing required, paint that will come close to matching the Chooch gray?

I've tried paying around with cutting and splicing Chooch abutments and retaining walls.
They're made out of a hard resin of some sort. They are not very easy to cut, but it can be done. Be careful when doing so, wear a mask as resin dust is toxic. They won't crumble, but they can break. You have to use either CA (superglue) or else a two-part epoxy to glue them together.

I don't know about paint. When I did mine I had to fill gaps which meant it was easier to repaint the whole thing.
