Ok, I've tried every brand of container I have and they all fit. In the past, the old Con-Cor was the worst, and it slipped right in. Kato, no problem. Walthers no problem.
The DI's are great detail, a little bit on the fragile side. I replaced the metal wheels with MT 33 and 36 std. wheels, improved the rolling and tracking 100%. Bon.
Bill, You're welcome Bob - you seem to be bucking the trend to metal wheels - I converted everything a couple years ago and no longer have to worry about track cleaning...the Maxi IVs have Fox Valley wheelsets, which are what is on most of my cars (there are some BLMA, those that don't cause me problems) and I found them to be very free rolling with the exception of the TTX cars, all of which needed an additional washer to get the wheelsets high enough to clear the end platform...the only issue I found with the cars...
Yeah, I really like the quiet of the plastic wheels, don't have any trouble with track cleaning even though it is in my attached 2 car garage. I have been in this house since 8/81 and never had a car in it overnight. The brake end of the DI car needed a washer, other end and middle not so. Maybe when I get done with some more scenery and it keeps the foam quiet I would have more metal wheels. Bob.
I am a diehard metal wheel fan. I just can't ever seem to get them when I need them or I wouldn't have a single plastic wheel.
Time for old Rick to sound off. I have nothing against metal wheels. I mean it's your choice and you should exercise that choice. OK, with one exception. On Analog DC layouts where you've installed block wiring for Cab A and Cab B, operations. You can have a short if a metal wheel sits on a isolation gap making contact with both sides. The same can happen in a reverse loop or a wye. Not a lot of fun. Personaly, I prefer the N Scale, Micro Trains, Delrin wheel sets. Solves a lot of problems before you even get to the train layout. There you have it. Yep, I'm exercising my personal authority and power of choice. When it became so popular to use metal wheels is beyond me. Not so popular with me and I don't care who thinks differently. Have fun!
I've never felt any need to go with metal wheelsets. What I own with MT, etc, has always done just fine. I knew a fellow who built a huge HO layout, and converted everything to metal wheelsets. He then went over the entire layout, and knicked the rails so the wheels would click. It worked, but to me the sound in no way mimicked prototype jointed rails. After a while it became annoying, hearing that clicking.

Seeing pictures of your layout never gets old! I agree with Rick, I love the "wedding cake" with erosion webbing.
