Very inspiring sequence of new photos Jim! BTW, who makes the ATSF SD75M with working ditch lights? It looks sharp. -Gary
Thanks, everyone, for the kind comments. Hearing from you folks is the cherry on the whipped cream! Gary, that's an Athearn from their first run. I put the ditch lights on using some 0603 LEDs from Jim Hinds at Richmond Controls - those little buggers will fit ANYWHERE! And I love my four SD75is - I think that was Athearn's first loco after the F59 disaster and sales were slow because people had been burned with the rocketship and were afraid they'd do it again. But these, after appropriate break in, are smooth as butter. I can live with the coke-bottle windows and extra glue...
Our family is very impressed with your latest photos Jim!:thumbs_up: The natural look of your fence line posts, rock formations, foliage and ballasting really set off the scene. Jerry
It's looking more and more like the real thing. I do hope that weathering is in the future. Excellent work.
Again, thanks everyone for the encouragement! MOPMAN, I dunno about that - I have a built-in anti weathering bias, I think. In my world the railroads keep their units clean and you can read the numbers on the stack cars... Besides, I have a TON more scenery detail work to do before I think about desecrating my locos and cars...but I have learned to never say never... :tb-smile:
I have a better answer for you Jim. I am too busy running my trains to dirty them up! But I must say it is an amazing layout. Your are doing an excellent job that motivates me to up my game!
I knew I could rely on you Jim to post some inspirational pictures after my two week leave of absence!
Jim looking great as usual. I hope my club layout we are starting to build next month looks half as good as your layout.
Been doing a lot this week but nothing really photogenic - Here's a shot of a 66 car equivalent stacker - 132 trucks off the Oakville roads!
My 11-year old daughter has gotten very "ho-hum" about trains these days, but this picture stopped her in her tracks when she saw it. Spectacular! (both on the looks and making my daughter actually take notice of something for a change ). Jamie
Looked at your photo again and felt compelled to make a second comment: I don't know what "it" is, but your layout definitely has it. Jamie
