I have an ATSF GP-60M that was custom built for me utilizing the LL shell and an Atlas SD60M cab. It of course has BLMA grabs, etc and is on the LL GP-60 chassis. I am more a fan of the GP-60B unit (which I also have). Kinda weighing the option of selling the GP-60M. I'm looking for various opinions on what it may be worth or should it get seen by the world on "that auction site"? I can post pics at a later date. thanks.
That's a nice kitbash! That's more than just an SD60M cab sitting on a GP60 shell. It looks like the builder used my technique of splicing a 2 window and 3 window SD60M together to render the correct look and dimensions. Are you sure you want to part with that beauty? Russ
I'm in , I'll give you $2.00 for it.!!! Just kidding , shoot me a PM when you arrive at a figure. Thanks , Mike
Custom done units, done correctly, can fetch $200 and up. If you put the unit on EBay, it could go for quite a bit more. Of course, with the price of gas, right now, it could go for alot less too. You might be better finding a price you want for it, and selling it out right.
Jerry has definitely given you good advise. The other option is to have an agent sell it for you. Possibly at the WGH Show.
Allright, it's a tough decision. Like I said, I don't necessarily 100% completely like the GP60M as well as the GP60B. Just a personal thing. There are a few n-scale items I would like to get - IM BNSF "Wedge" Trinity hoppers (2nd 12 #'s to go with the first 12), a LL C&O Berkshire, and the KATO GN F-units and passenger cars. Of course I can't pay for all of those things by selling the GP60M. Money isn't the issue as I do custom paint work for many people and a large Canadian e-tailer which offers custom painted locos to pay for my hobbies. Woodworking is my second hobby and tools and wood are expensive also. If you would like to send me a PM regarding the loco to discuss further I am open to that. Also, if more pics are desired, I can do that too. The guy that built the loco for me is willing to do more cabs and I of course do the painting. Anyways, it is open for further discussion. Thanks.
Put it on eBay (sorry, I'm not a subscriber to the "ignore the elephant in the room by calling it a different name" philosophy) and see what happens.
Put it on what the Mailman said, but with a reserved minimum price so you get at least a minimum of what you are looking for out of it.
On another note, some people have asked me what I charge to custom paint locos and it is $50 per loco (unless they get complicated and then it may go up a little). You would supply the decals of choice (preferably Microscale) and cover some of the shipping. I supply the paint. You can always contact me if there is something you are looking to get done. Thanks.
Allright, loco is going on ebay next week. Figured I'd not get too much of a response over the holiday weekend. Not sure what the reserve price is going to be yet. I have seen custom painted locos (not much more than paint only) go for $400 so I may put a buy-it-now for that or a little more. Am I dreaming with the price?? Thanks.
Man, I forgot how nice that unit looked! How did RJs RS18 come out? I still have two more for him, but we've sold out home and are in the middle of a move. Once we get settled, I'll see about getting them to him... -sp9800-
