I've been "lusting in my heart" after the Long Valley lumber mill kit from N Scale Architect.

This is a large scene-centerpiece-type structure. My experience with laser-cut kits is somewhat limited, but I've had success with structures from Bar Mills and NESM.

Anyone have experience with this kit or N Scale Architect stuff in general?

Other than feeling the same as you, "lusting" for one of their kits, no experience. They sure look good!

I have the Lackawanna Coal Company sitting its packaging for over a year. It is going to be a big project and I am not ready for it, but I am sure looking forward to it.

I have found that other, smaller, laser kits from any of the four major producers are of top quality. As with everything, if I go slowly and minimize mistakes, it will come out right.

I'll let the cat out of the bag. Bar Mills Models does the laser cutting for the N Scale Architect. The quality is the same so if you enjoyed building Bar Mills kits you'll enjoy building N Scale Architect. George Picyk

That's music to my ears - I love those Bar Mills kits. Fahie et al do a great job.

Now to actually find the time to build it...

I love laser wood kits. They are beautifully done, semi-easy to construct, and fun. More importantly, they make nice looking models when done. I would suspect this would be a fairly straight forward kit. :)

I'm building the Z scale version of this kit night now. I still need to add the smoke stacks and pipes that connect the chip loader to the mill.

It goes together very easily, and is well designed. I added a few wood beams here and there to help the structure keep its shape(keep walls from bowing) and for strength. The windows are all self stick laser cut stickers. The instructions cover everything, and make it clear where each parts goes.

My kit was missing one of the plates of laser cut windows. N Scale Architect sent me the missing parts quickly.

    Great work, Curn

If I had any lingering doubts, you've dispelled them - your lumber mill looks fantastic!
