And not really a buzzsaw, but thought the reporting marks fit well:

I don't understand. Why are the reporting marks related to the buzzsaw? Thanks.

ARMN was one of the marks for American Refrigerator Transit, a joint subsidiary of MoPac and Wabash (later N&W). In the heyday, most of their cars carried heralds for both of the parent roads as well as the ART shield. Hope this clarifies!

Thanks, Eagle 2. I have heard of that. I have model ART refrigerator cars with those logos but the reporting marks are RMDX. Interesting that these ARMN reporting marks have survived.

Nice shot Steve. Where was this at?

Flash - While I won't claim this is a complete list, some of the marks I've found for ART are: ARMH, ARMN, ART, LOCX, MLCX, MODX and WADX. Alphabet soup?

I see these just north of Tuscon, on the UP line of course. I have 4 different shots so far; that one is graffitti-free. I didn't know about the connection with Mopac either.

Here's an old boxcar turned into someone's house near Daggett, CA:

And an older auto rack (bilevel/open top) tucked onto a siding right at Colorado Springs:

I wasn't aware that Mopac had racks like that. Did they ever use the close topped? I only remember seeing the open racks way back in the early 70's

How recent or otherwise is that pic? I didn't think any open top racks still existed!

Outstanding work gentlemen...keep em coming.Love the converted boxcar house. How cool would it be to build a layout in there? Actually neat,I really don't think it would be very cool inside....

Atomic - the sources I have show both open and closed top cars, including early open side ones, either owned or leased (TT flats) by MoPac

Hemi - this car was photographed in Sep '01. Given the location, it was used to move HMMWV's and similar sized vehicles to and from Ft Carson.
