It may be out of era for most but it would still be a cool engine to get. Overland Model's "Tower 55" plastic line are going to release the ES44DC and ES44AC in N scale! I'm going to buy ONE and only one. Is anyone else going to buy one?
"Environmentally Safe" 4400 hp DC or AC transmission. They meet tier 2 emissions standards and are the current version of the C44-9 or AC4400. If you count rivets you can tell the difference. If not they blend in when standing trackside and watching a BNSF Z-train blowing by you at 79mph (except for that UGLY new logo).
You could take a walk down to this topic, and see the differences: http://www.trainboard.com/ultimatebb.php/ubb/get_topic/f/56/t/001111/p/1.html
I'm pretty sure the ES stands for "Evolution Series", but it could be it has meant more than one thing at a time. These locomotives are also referred to as GEVOs, if you've heard that, although that term apparently refers specifically to the diesel engine, not the whole loco. So far there is nothing on Tower55's website mentioning anything about N scale.
Anything GE makes that has E44AC or E44DC in it gets my attention, but alas, these are apparently diesels. Pennsy fans can relax.
Here's a link to what their web site calls their "latest ad," but again, this is all HO. http://www.tower55products.com/Upload/Ads/T55Ad.pdf
Dang. Right when I know I have evidence, they go and update their site and have no hint at anything being in N scale. It did say it, but now it doesn't.
Looks like typical Cheyenne, WY weather to me as well, and the shot is nice and sharp. Not bad from a car window! On a side note, the swoosh logo is a sacriledge, IMHO.
