It was a busy weekend despite the fact was down with the virus going around. I missed Scout Sunday because I woke up with a 101 fever. We did get the cupboards restocked and my son had two basketball games. My daughter did not make her game since she was still getting over this virus. Everyone seems much better today. I began weathering the trucks on the flat cars. I know this is late today. Had trouble posting earlier.
I finished the decaling on this Tunnel Motor, added lift rings, wipers, window glazing, roof mounted bell, and a whip antenna.
I spent all day Saturday painting the brass coupler trip pins on my N-scale cars grimy black. I only have about 150+ cars. Man was I tired when I was done.
I hooked up two Digitrax DS64's. Got all the wiring done, switches responding. Now I need to determine the placement for the third, and maybe a fourth? Well, the fourth will have to wait since the pocket book will be dented pretty hard by the Daylight cars and GS4 and hopefully the decoder. And in a few more short days, the Fox Valley metal wheels. I have the third and a power supply and the wire and the "lock-it's" for the wiring. All that is missing now is the where-with-all.
Under the weather (again), too. But I did get my bridge mostly done. Needs a little weathering to take the edge off, and final placement of the top onto the deck.
We had a very productive Saturday. The track is in for the lower level on all but a couple of spurs and a dummy interchange. We used alligator clips to connect power and ran a train around it forward and backward with no obvious problems. Woot! Now it's time to get ready for the Mad City Model Railroad Show this coming weekend (and to shovel our record snowfall again)
I enclosed the hidden tracks after testing the IR sensors and turnouts, as well as track leads. I also began to lay track out to see how it fit the table compared to the drawing, and make any changes needed. Dan
I got a lot of locos cleaned and lubed. The track bumps caused by expansion/contraction over the past year were fixed--I just cut some new expansion joints, and slid the track around a bit. Also got a lot of the layout cleaned--it wasn't as bad as I thought.
Finally got around to cleaning my workshop. Also spent time working the Custom Model Railroad kit of the "American Brewery", prototype is in Baltimore, MD. It is an acrylic kit with tons of applied details. Nothing is molded on and each has to be glued. At first I was "humbled" by the task. But this weekend I applied all of the acrylic castings on each of the major 4 walls. I can see now how it is gonna take shape and it is well worth the time I have put in so far. Next up for this kit will be to spread the entire thing out on the bench with ALL of the castings in order to formulate my "airbrushing and painting" strategy w/ this monster. It was a productive weekend mostly because I also FINALLY had a break from office work on the weekends. I anticipate this weekend will be much the same or better. (Knocking on wood)
Ive been working on my roundhouse, need to dig out the inspection pits and it will be finished. Heres a shot of an f3 at rest inside b_o_on_shed.JPG :: B&O F3 ON SHED @ Fotopic.Net paul
