so, does anyone know for sure.
With JMRI, do I use panel pro? to create 8 to 10 throttles either in seperate windows or one big window/panel on screen so that I can see the status of the throttle position and tweak any of the 10 throttles as I need to.
I want to see all 10 throttles at once, like as a knob graphic so I can see where they are set, also direction, so I can run up to 10 DCC locos at once by myself from one computer.

might also be nice to be able to have a horn or bell button too.

Here is a screen shot with 10 throttles open(I opened them through LocoTools, I have not eperimented with PanelPro yet, but they are both part of the JMRI package):

I left the top 3 as they come up to show you what they normally look like. I then rearranged the others to try to get a total of 10 on the screen. As you can see, at my screen resolution I can not show 10 throttles and all of their information, but I can get 10 throttles on the screen. You can also have the throttles open and overlapped if you do not need to see all of the information at once but want to have quick access to any of the throttles. The amount of information you can display also depends on your screen resolution. I am running at 1024 x 768, but I could run at a higher resolution if I wanted more information on the screen. If I go to 1600 x 900, I can get 10 full throttles on the screen, but it doesn't look very good with my 17" LCD monitor, if I had a 19" or 21" it might look good.

Something else I noticed today when playing with the most recent version of JMRI is that with the on screen throttle you can control functions up to F28, even with Digitrax(the '*' key on the on screen throttle acts as a shift key).

You can download JMRI and run it without a layout (or even a DCC system) by selecting "Loconet simulator" as your command station in the setup.

That will give you some free playtime at least.

Regarding my NCE PowerCab questions. I want to thank thoses who replied. I am early in designing my layout but this is good info to help me determine which DCC system I eventually would like to use.

I assume this is in response to my comment that as far as I knew, the USB interface was not available yet. I had seen it listed on Tony's, but most other web sites that had it listed said something to the effect of coming soon, and I had not heard of anyone actually getting one. Well, I emailed Tony's to see if they had any in stock, and the response was "Not released Yet".
