RJ Cormans 2-10-2QJ steam engine is in chatanooga on a flat car on the Norfolk southern. THis info came from JREB.Org and dont know when it will head north to Oakdale,TN.
Cool Alex. :tb-nerd: It's eventually going to be in KY, right? Up near Lexington, probably? :tb-tongue: Are they going to keep its as-delivered appearance?
Here's a quote from the KentuckyRailfan yahoo group to which I belong: FYI - RJCC QJ Class #7040 scheduled to depart Chattanooga tonight on NS train #144 northbound. Expect arrival in Lexington on Sunday morning January 13, 2008 around 9:00 AM or so, but could be earlier or later. As always, this is subject to change at any time depending on the railroad and operating conditions.
Well I got to the RJ Corman yard just as the crew was getting ready to move the 2-10-2, so I only got a couple of pictures. It was a pretty steady drizzle today around town, and I shoot pictures of trains simply for enjoyment, so don't expect calendar quality shots, but here is one to give you an idea of what to expect around central Kentucky.
I'm not a steam fan, so I'm not sure what a deflector is. If you're talking about the sidewall looking things I've seen on some foreign steam engines' smokebox, I'm glad this one doesn't have them--makes it look slightly more American.
The Boone and Scenic Valley RR has a Chinese-built steam engine at their museum. http://jreb.org/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=14066
Thought I'd seen pictures of these in Iowa, with the smoke lifting sheet metal? If so, perhaps they were removed for this shipment? It does look a bit more North American without them. The red paint isn't exciting for me. Boxcab E50
Well, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that since Ricky Corman owns it, the red wheels are probably here to stay.
Ricky said he wanted to paint it red like his diesels. I hope he doesn't. Alex, regardless of whether or not your pictures are "calender shots" I like them. I've been wanting to see pictures of the loco since I found out about it.
Are you talking to me? I havent got to take any pics of the QJ yet. Now another question I have is will Rick change his RR name to QJ Corman?...
Well my name isn't Alex, but thanks for the compliment. Not being up to date on steam power, I can't say I've ever seen a red and silver steam locomotive.
Well I guess it's really red and Prussian blue:biggrin2:.......... (Yeah, I know this isn't what you meant, I just couldn't resist) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:UP_steam_loco.jpg By the way, thanks for posting he photos of the locomotive. Ed .
