A couple of years ago I put a Digitraxx Decoder in my RS1. The problem I am having after following the directions is that the headlights do not work. I lost the paperwork on the Decoder since then but it is a drop in replacement for the stock Atlas board. I don't know if the stock Atlas LED's are to big for the board, or if the resistor is causing the problem. Any help would be great!
I have had the same problem. In '05 I purchased an Atlas classic RSD-5 and put a Digitrax decoder in it. The "Gold Wheat" LED lamp burnt out in 10 minutes. I have been running it without one. However, I did get replacements from Atlas that are sitting at my workbench. I had just planned to put a resistor in series w/ the lamp. HOWEVER, I purchased (back in '90 and '91) two undec'd Atlas RS-1's and painted them for the C&O. 3 years ago, I put Digitrax decoders in each. Each decoder as you did is a replacement board for the Atlas. These have more conventional lamps and are still burning as bright as ever. No problem. I have also thought about putting these in my RSD's as opposed to using a resistor w/ the LED. Here's #5114 (purchased 17 years ago) w/ a Digitrax decoder and the original lamp still churning away
The thing that gets me is that both LED's are functional without the decoder! I don't get it. Do I have a bad board or am I doing something wrong?
Hi.. NCE make a drop-in decoder for the Atlas RS1, I have done a few with no problems. Decoder is a DA-SR. Stuart
