I was interested in seeing what other members are using to catalog their inventory of model railroad equipment. I know that there are a few Access database running around to do this, but I was wondering if anyone had found something that uses a web page instead? Thanks. Chris Morton
This doesn't answer your question about web pages, but I use a Pocket PC and enter my info on an Excel spreadsheet - then I transfer the spreadsheet to my desktop PC. I can take my Pocket PC with me when I go to the local hobby shop or trainshows and have instant access to my inventory.
Im a little bit more basic, I just record information such as AAR type (XM, XML, HT, etc..) Number, Roadname itinitals (CB&Q, BMRR, B&O, SAL, etc...) on a notepad then type them in on Excel...I also use this as a maintenance record. Making notes on any freightcars that need repairs or upgrades (KD's, metal wheels, etc..).
I Use RRTRAINS it is a dree download and simple to use http://www.download3000.com/download_2513.html
Thanks for the replies. I will take a look at RRTrains 2000 and see what it does. Ultimately like I said before I want something web based but I may have to develop something myself. I know that I would want the web page to be able to export to Excel as that seems to be the most standard thing people use.
I use Excel I can save..as a PDF file which can be view over the web. I don't use that feature so don't know how well it works. Kent
I use a pretty in depth excel file, tracks costs, and cars by RR and type. I am also beginning to use it to create train consist lists.
