I am trying to model several monon BL-2s for a friend and I am looking for three like like BL-2 engines. I have searched for the last few months for any of the split frame versions of this engine (any road is OK). Been able to find a few of the earlier release but have not been able to score any with the spit frame mechanism. Does anyone know any dealers who have any of the spit frames in stock. Or does anyone have any they would like to part with? thanks for the time stu
I think your best bet is to keep a sharp eye on ebay, and look for BL-2's with the full pilot. That's how I found the Rock Island unit I have now, wound up paying about 45 bucks for it. I wish I could find a few more, since Walthers doesn't have parts for it. I want to do one up in the EMD demo paint, and a fantasy loco in SP tigerstripes.
I believe that the BL2 is scheduled to be released again this Spring. I have 4 or 5 now, and the DCC conversion is a little bit of a pain. The Digi-Frames one is the closest that you are going to come to right now... http://www.sodigi.com/DigiFrame_Life_Like.htm
