Just think, the standard cab Dash-8 are about 20 years old now. I remember seeing them when they were brand new in the all gray scheme with the slanted numbers on the cab. Man were they impressive back then.
This unit used to be frequent visitor on Evansville division of the old Family Lines. Had the pleasure of seeing this unit many, many times including it's delivery run. It was delivered in the Family Lines colors and sub-lettered L&N. It was pretty consistently on the any of the "Hotshots" thru here be it Piggybacks, unit coal trains, or GM's out of Nashville via Howell Yard in Evansville Northbound, or Dalton Yard Southbound. She was my favorite unit, of my favorite type, on my Favorite RR. She looks like hell now, but good to see she is still earning her keep 25 + years after seeeing her for the first time
