Pete Nolan's comment that New Mexican skies can be even darker than the sky blue I was using has inspired me to try a slightly different color scheme using a blue I often see in the sky here. I also changed the roof to black, per UP1950s' comment about dirt and grime on roofs. It's just an experiment to see what people think. Anyone have comments, opinions, or preferences on these two engines? (And the new herald). Also, are they better or worse than the previous schemes?

Also, if you've tuned in late, please vote in my poll below!

Nice...I like the first one. Maybe you could put the New Mexico sun logo on the nose.

    Thanks. :tb-biggrin:

I had considered using the Zia sun symbol because it is on the state flag and so on. I rejected it when I considered that the Zia pueblo wants people to stop doing this. My fictional railroad used to use the Zia symbol until my fictional railroad owner decided to substitute with four red lines in the herald. They really mean the same thing. (The herald is going to go on the nose).

Noone wants anyone to be offended....but why don't the indians consider it a source of pride that their symbol is perpetuated for all the world to see and admire. rather that waste time/energy to say " It was stolen from my people, I can't live with that! I'm so offended!"

I'm of German descent should I worry and be so bothered by Roman icons/symbols....They killed and enslaved so many of my people.....on and on

Sorry for my rant....People sholdn't give others so much power over them to make the offended so easily....(sticks and stones theory)

You should probably ask a pueblo member that question.

    Looking good!

I like the darker blue - and the black roof makes the engine look mean - in a good way. My pick is the second image with the red stripe at the bottom.

With regards to the logo - one thing that I didn't notice till the second viewing is that it reads cen tral because of the break - which makes it a touch confusing. I'm not sure about the politics surrounding the logo (cultural sensitivity) but would something like the attached be acceptable?

    Nice work!

I'd have to vote number one--it looks easier to paint as well. Now when are we going to see some other variations on different locos?

    Mean! Yes! :tb-biggrin:

You know, that's a cool idea for the logo. I'll play around with it and see what works. Thanks for the input!
