I have a question regarding the recent production by Atlas of the GP35 in Western Maryland.

On the Atlas website, the first unit is listed as road number 3579 (Atlas item #46539 non-dcc). Yet on N-Scale Supply's site, the road number is listed as 3576.

Does anyone know which is correct? What is the actual road number on this particular unit?

    Thanks.

I haven't looked at Atlas yet, but they tend to run two road numbers per road name. It's possible they are both correct.

Go to atlasrr.com and look under recent releases and you should be able to get the exact info. Oh, you said you did. hmmm...

I got curious and looked for myself. Here's the link:
    Atlas N GP-30 GP-35 Locomotives

The number at the left margin is the analog loco catalog number. The number after the roadname is the loco number. The right most number is the Digital versions catalog number
    46539 Western Maryland* (Red/White/Black "Circus") 3579 46168
    46540 Western Maryland* (Red/White/Black "Circus") 3577 46169
    46541 Western Maryland* (Red/White/Black "Circus") 3580

I'd just go with what Atlas has.

Wig-Wag also has it listed as 3576...
While BLW has a picture of it as 3576, but lists it as 3579.

Re: Atlas Western Maryland GP35 road numbers

    WM 3576 (& 3578) were the Atlas/Kato GP35s released in the early(?) 1990s

ITRW, Western Maryland only had 5 GP-35's. Originally they were numbered 501-505, then after B&O numbering they were numbered 3576-3580.

As for an explanation for the numbering. Atlas offered 3576 and 3578 in the early 90's. Then they rereleased them again with the compliment of the series 3577, 3579 and 3580.
