    Geee...

this morning after just a very few hours rest I came back and already one contest was solved...

but this one seems to be very hard.

I was looking over England allmost all day. England because for me it looks like those cars are driving on the left side:

the truck where the four lane road meets the left margin in the first picture, and the van in the industrial compound below the ligth blue circular building

the shadows looks like northern hemisphere

the countryside seems to be realativly flat, which rules out Wales, Scotland and Japan for me. And also India to some extend, also the area seems to be more fertile as India. Malta don't have a railway to speek of if any.

Ireland I did rule out because of the dividing of the fields. In Irland those are mostly stonewalls, but here you see vegetation like small trees or bushes as divider between fields.

Besides Australia and New Sealand on the southern hemisphere, who else is driving on the left side?

Any clues? Or I'm totally lost in the wilderness...

My guess is India - arid, evaporation pond (for salt?), the fields aren't oriented in a uniform North/South grid like you'd see in the US, and it's northern hemisphere. I'll keep looking!

    Hello Mike,

You got it. Because of your post I checked India, even if I still believed England.

Since you directed me into it, I did send my result to Scott in a PM just before this post.

I have to go to bed now, it's late now and tomorrow I've to get up early again. I'm back online about 01:00 pm (German time).

That's a lot of territory to cover so I give up. :) It might be easier if I were using Google Earth but instead I'm using Maps w/satellite (not ideal) Go ahead and let us know where this mystery spot is!

    Regards,
    -Mike

Well, I hope I'm not stealing Uwe's win here. You guys way helped out, too. But here it is...

According to some photo titles, its the IFFCO plant outside Kalol, India.

Followed the rail lines north out of Ahmadabad to find it. (Tried that near Bengaleru, Hyderabad, and Nagpur first...)

    Hello Ben & all,

back from work... we're not allowed to surf the net at working hours... :bear-sad:

no problem. I was fixed on England and search up and down the island that I just for chance gave Mike's idea a try. And then there it was:

    Google Maps

@Mike: it is really hard to search this in Google maps. It scrolls and zooms to slow, I would never have tried this there. It's just easier to post a link from there...

I love this, you can learn so much this way... :bear-biggrin:

so now there's just one question:

Where is the next place to look out for? :ip:

Honorable mention to Mike,Uwe,and Sandro. Great Sleuthing Guys!

I wish there was some way to even this out for the google maps users, But I noticed if you search in Hybrid mode it's almost the same.:)

Ulie: You' re right, there are no railways here. Yet, back in the old days, there was something. The line used to transport people in a 'bus route' fashion, but when REAL busses came into service, the company quickly failed. There are some bits of track though, and an old first-class carriage parked in the middle of a public garden, Gnien is-Stazzjon (Station Park), which used to be a station.

Hi Malta Guy, Welcome aboard, we're very happy to have you here.

You know, it's possible that you could become the entrepeneur who (re-)creates a Malta Light-Rail system in the not so distant future. The rising cost of fuel is certainly becoming an incentive for such a system.

    Hello Malta Guy,

I remembered that from our honeymoon back in 1991.

you mean those busses with open doors, and a picture of the virgin Mary to pray to while riding the bus... :) :)

Would be an good idea to post that location here before someone use it for a contest... :) :)

Lol, you're right, and what's more, the drivers keep swearing against the Saints... Welcome to Malta. Anyway, I would take a picture of Gnien lis-Stazzjon, but my Google Earth's not working right now. I'd do it when I can.

    Hello Malta Guy,

We stayed in a hotel in Bugibba...

...but we loved the tours with those busses...

...and with the ferry over to Gozo...
...those ferry wouldn't be allowed to sail here on the Western Baltic Sea...

...even more I loved our tours with a car. In our hotel booking was a car included for three days. When we got the car the lady from our travel agency told us:

People on Malta drive on the left...
    ...or on the right...
    ...but anyway...
    ...with much feeling...

and especially when we drove into a very narrow way somewhere between Mgarr and Mdina, which according to our map was a connection between two bigger roads...
...but after about 4 km the way just ended...
...causing us to drive those 4km in reverse gear back...

or when we got lost somewhere in the southern part. Finally we drove until we came to the fence around Luqa airport. Now we only had to follow the fence until we found the place where we were on the map again...

I will soon be back. And then I will search for the traces of a railway on Malta...
