    Hi all,

Decided to pay attention to my N Scale collection this weekend and painted up a 100,000 series caboose in Southern Pacific markings. I used the Micro-Scale Decals and found them ok, but the "A"s were filled in a bit. I painted the roof aluminum first, then used liquid masking for for the pealing paint areas. The base coat was Boxcar Red cut 5% with white on the sides and 10% for the top. Ends were painted SP orange and weathered. Followed this up with chalks to get the shades and dirt. Once this was done, a coat of clear followed by the decals and then a coat of flat. I used Boxcar Red full strength painted here and there to show where the paint was cleaned or touched up. I like to do the weathering before the markings since you get a smoother surface to work on. If you try and weather over the decals then you see the clear carrier. The final touch was to paint the trucks and mount grey low profile wheels. I also used Z Scale 905 Body mounts for the couplers...all my N has them now. Makes a big difference.

The final step will be to install the side windows and glass cover sheets for the cupola.

    So Joe:

How do we get your employer to do this car? In a 3-pack?

Mmmm...Joe the MTL guy. Yeah must be an Atlas Cabin. :tb-biggrin: JK.

    Nice work!

Joe is there an idea for another collectors series? I loved the Pepsi train. Got all but the engine. No need for the engine.
