Some of my steamers need a little help pulling my heavyweights up the hill. Alone, my Selkirk can pull 13 cars up a 2% grade. But with the 'Kirk' coupled to this little gizmo.... ...I can pull every passenger car in my fleet! It is a Kato Project motor lenghted with DCC installed....Not pretty, but effective. David
I assume there's a weight in the boxcar? Or is the frame heavy enough for your purposes? Then, what's the toal weight? Actually, I was hoping for a duct tape thread.
A friend of mine loves steamers too and has a Minitrix powered boxcar. Well, one time the coupler came apart, and the steamer left the vacinity. The train continued down the hill with no locomotive, and you would be amazed how many people pounded on the glass to warn us of a runaway train! Now, every April 1st, we bring out the runaway! Gotta try that on NTrak and see if anyone notices... Ya know, if you make all your freight cars DCC equipped, you could make a hump yard... Tony Burzio San Diego, CA
Nice.. Me likey !!!!!!! Hiding a loco under a Box car is very ingenious it helps yet doesn't spoil the look of the train.. Well done...
Dan Crowley is a master of using a LL GP-20 frame with a boxcar covering the frame. A Lenz 511 decoder is installed in most of his "cheater" boxcars. Stay cool and run steam...
