    Hi Group, Oct 4th, 07.
    Thursday 19:30 Hrs. M.D.T.

I See There is a New Company, (to Me), Called "Fox Valley Models."
I've Liked What I've Seen so Have Ordered a Few Cars.
Questions? Who is Fox Vally Models? Are They a Good Company?
I am Very Impressed With the Quality of Their "N Scale Cars", and
Saw the Recent Update on New Cars, Comming, C.N. and Ontario Northland,
Plus a few Others - WOW. Good Looking Cars, as I See It.

    Comments, Anyone?

    Thanks Group.

Someone can correct me, but I believe Matt Gaudynski is the prime mover. He was until recently the head honcho for operations over at Intermountain. He is what is known as a "good guy" (he's a Coloradan, ain't he?) and carries with him good wishes for success from many in the N scale world, as well as gratitude for good quality models at a pretty decent price.

Of course, they're not perfect. I mean, they've only introduced two new products in the past few months. How lame is that! They're waffling on the Dash 8-40C we all need, not to mention the SW1500's we've been crying for for goodness alone knows how long. Just kidding of course! They also make laser cut products, like bridges and loading ramps.

This is like a Wikipedia entry - others are free to add, correct or excoriate. :D

FVM is Matt Gaudynski, and whoever he may have working for him now. He's based in Colorado. I think someone here said he is or was an employee of Intermountain, but I can't vouch for the truth of that. (EDIT: someone had said that previously to this thread, I was typing my reply as William posted.)

As for his products...I've only tried the brass wheels, but they are a godsend. Reliable, affordable metal wheels with a realistic contour and finish is something N scale had needed for...well, forever.

I'm also mad at myself that I didn't pre-order a couple of the boxcars in roadnames I wanted. They look good, and Matt has been thoughtful about the features, providing for body-mounted couplers and such.

All around, I think it's great that more people are finding out about FVM.

The guy is a slug and wouldn't play with trains fer nuthin!

Hey wait - that's me I'm talking about.

    Hi There - Matt Here,

While I would guess you would solicit opinions other than mine, I thought I'd clear up a little background. Yep, I was at InterMountain the last 4ish years and thought it was time to go home and start something new. I am originally from Milwaukee (ya der hey!) but now reside in greater Chicagoland. I have been in some form of the hobby business (really trying to avoid real work) for 18+ years at this point. I enjoy what I do and try to have at least a little fun everyday.

I started Fox Valley Models when I was still in WI (hence the name). It grew out of a huge custom building period and stayed with me. A few years back I started drawing and cutting simple wood buildings and bridges. Within the last two years I started with metal wheelsets which so many people have purchased so far - Many, many thanks! While CO is a great state, it was time to come back home. I started looking at various projects and decided to jump in feet first with a few cars. I wanted a good car at a decent price range - nice detail, nice paint that modelers would appreciate and could afford. They are by no means perfect, but I think the end result is a great car at a great value. It will be my goal to continue to offer good products at good prices as long as the circumstances of a very real business world allow. I'm just getting started.

But William is right, only two cars in a few months- C'mon, really. Sorry William. I'll try and do better, Stick around for Nov for a couple of reasons. Lots more planned and lots more road names out there. Questions, comments, adverse reactions, chain letters - feel free to contact me anytime. I do have a "real" job (hobby related) as well, so I may not be able to answer everything all the time, but will try. Thanks for the interest and inquiry. I'll try to keep good stuff on the way.

    Best regards,

    Matt Gaudynski

Matt Who? Never heard of him.

Actually we have been selling Matt's cars for about a month now and they are great. Come on up to our website and do a search on Fox Valley and have a look at the complete line of cars. Matt gave us a couple of hi-res photo's you can enlarge and see first hand what a great job he is doing.

As to "jagged ben" comment "I'm also mad at myself that I didn't pre-order a couple of the boxcars in roadnames I wanted.", give us a call, we might have a set available in the road name you are looking for (just trying to help)

    Thanks Dan

Welcome to Trainboard, feel free to post updates and even photos of you products. Look forward to seeing your business thrive, I remember Craig Martyn first posting here when he was 14 and look how his business has grown.
