    Hey,
As I sit here figthing my emotions,I think back to better times. I bought a bunch of cars from him & we became friends. About 2 weeks before LT went into the hospital, I emailed him & another friend. I had a problem with my blood thinner. My blood was 4 times thinner than normal. After cutting myself & a trip to the ER, I shared my experience with them. I told them I'm switching to once a week testing, instead of monthly. I said they may want to check with their docs.
On Tuesday(Oct.11),after my test,my blood thined again. I'm more than 3 times thiner than normal.Measures are being taken.
Please, if anyone out there is on a blood thinner, please get checked out.If you know someone who's taking them, relay this to him.Remember Bob went in with complications from thin blood.
We've lost one of the giants of our hobby. We've lost a great friend. He will be greatly missed. :(

The modelling community worldwide is much sadder today.

(Isaiah 6:1 "I saw the Lord seated on a throne high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple). Sounds like a long train to me!

It's always a sad experience when the train leaves the station with our friends on it.

So long my friend. We shall miss you.

It is a tribute to Bob that so many people have come forward who only knew him based on his words and ideas. All of these people have been touched by his wisdom kindness and humor, and although Bob can no longer be here to provide more input, we all carry something of Bob forward within us.

I am greatful for the part of his life that Bob shared with us here online. In life it is those things that one cannot touch or hold that are the greatest gifts worth having.

Thank you Bob for all the great presents.

I just had to include this fun photo of Bob and John Sing. are these guys having a good time or what?

Verne, thank you for updating us. Sobering.

Traingeekboy, that's a great picture of Bob Woods that you posted, thx for doing that. This is how we all will remember him.

Bob Woods was a great guy, a true model railroad pundit, a treasure trove of 'long train' information. No one that I know knew more than him about the dynamics and physics of 80+ car N scale trains and N scale locomotive pulling power.

The day I spent with him at Scottsdale Sun - N - Sand last Oct 2004 now takes on new meaning..... a memory that I did not know at the time would be my last encounter with Outlaw Bob Woods on this earthly plane.

Bob was supremely generous. On that Oct 2004 visit took me to the Sun-N-Sand on a Saturday night till midnight - then also gave me some run time the following day. I will miss him greatly.

My sincerest condolences to his family. The Arizona Outlaws will always have his spirit with us. Now, a moment of silence......

Farewell, my friend. Those of us left behind will carry on the torch that you carried.

I'm deeply saddened by LT's (Bob Woods) passing.

We became very good friends and I often spoke to him on the phone and in e-mails as well as in the forums.

My condolences go to his wife, family and grandchild.

Bob was an outstanding contributor on many model railroad forums and his loss will be felt by all whom he had contact with.

His knowledge will be missed by all of us.

    Take care LT..... [IMG]

Stay cool and run LONGTRAINS..... [IMG]

I met Bob only once, in July. We had brunch at a local Denny's, then went off to the Sun-n-Sand layout to run some trains, including an Atlas RSD-15 that he had modified with traction tires. With one set of traction tires, the engine derailed; we guessed that the TT-truck was torquing the engine off the rails. Before my eyes, Bob disassembled the engine, installed a TT-axle on the second truck, and snapped everything back together.

Now, Bob was a big guy, with big, meaty hands. I was pretty amazed that he could do this procedure without an Optivisor or tweezers, just a small screwdriver to pop pieces apart. The single engine, normally rated at 13-15 cars, pulled 85!

All the time we were together, we were talking. We talked about business and our respective careers. He was retiring from the Salt River power project at the end of that week. I learned a lot just listening.

Later, we went over to Verne's. The conversation continued throughout the afternoon and evening. I was utterly amazed at the amount of knowledge about trains, models, the model industry, and persons these two could share. I was like a sponge. How did they ever accumulate all this knowledge?

Bob was a great guy, and delightful company. We'd gotten to know each other via this forum and emails, and then my visit. I'm sorry to see him go at such a young age (one year older than me). But I know he rests in peace with the Lord.

The Lord be with you, Bob!

Pete. that was a great afternoon running trains and talking, and dinner afterwards. Bob had a great sense of humor, and was very generous. I learned a lot by listening to both of you, and am glad we were able to share that day together.

Last year this past Sunday, Bob extended me the privilege of running my military train on the Sun N Sand club's layout during an open house for Railfair, hosted at the railroad park where the club is located. As a prior member of the Sun N Sand (as a teenager back in the '70s) it was a great homecoming.

It was a great time, John Sing was there, and we had another great afternoon running trains and sharing the fun of N scale that day.

Bob extended another offer several weeks before he fell ill, and I was looking forward to running trains with him on October 9th during Railfair. Wasn't meant to be...

With four pages of tribute already, I doubt I have much to add. I conversed online with him several times. Not having met him in person is my loss. There is no doubt that he was a decent human being, and his family should be proud of him. We have all been impoverished by the lose. Frank
