Hey, I might go for one or two of these...even though I'm supposed to be modeling just doublestacks right now. ;)

I like your design choices with the crosswalks and the body mounting option. Should be standard in the scale.

Any chance we could get Montreal, Maine and Atlantic? They took over the BAR, real nice looking maroone boxes!

Micro Trains boxcar from this number series (left) next to my new Fox Valley Models version (right) of this same Cotton Belt boxcar number series. The MT car is completely stock; I haven't painted or weathered the trucks yet. The MT car has an extended coupler which (I believe?) simulates the cushion underframe. The height above the rails seems to be about the same.

Flash - so, the FVM are visibly too big or? the MT too small?

I personally don't care about historical accuracy but reconize that others might. I love the way the cars track and the packaging. I can easily unpack all 21 of thier cars that I have in at most a couple of minutes. Packing them back up takes only a little more time. I have backed a full string through un-modified Kato #4 turnouts. :) with full success.

I don't know; they are both fine for me. :yes9rq: I was just showing a picture for comparison and not to really make any comment. :happy19pb:

The FVM has a little nicer detail with the brass etched walkways across the ends.

While both are nice looking cars it appears the FVM car is a tad taller then the MT car and appears to be a higher rider then the MT car-could be camera distortion.I don't know which is the more correct car as far as height..

Either one would be a welcome addition to my growing freight car collection.

The FVM car is more accurate than the MTL car, but both cars sit too high and need to be lowered.

I was curious about the car body height on the FVM car also. It seems too tall to be a Plate C car. Looks like a Plate E car. I am talking about just the car body, without trucks. Maybe lowering the ride height will help to address this, I don't know. I always thought the MTL cars were more so a Plate B car. I consider Atlas the Gold Standard in N scale, and I would compare the car body height on the FVM cars to the Atlas 53' Evans car, another Plate C car. These two cars are just about dead even from the bottom of the side sill to the top of the car, so maybe the FVM is good. However, the Evans cars have a full length side sill, and the FVM cars have the side sill notched out at the ends for the stirrups. Therefore, the Atlas stirrups hang lower on the Atlas cars, and this give a more pleasing appearance to the eye. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this. Thanks.
