In an email from www.4nscale.com this morning: Dear N Scalers: (clip) Kato Sneak Preview Kato will soon be announcing SD40-2 Locos in Burlington Northern (white face) and Canadian National (IC Repaint). Kato will also be producing the Gunderson Maxi-IV double stack well car in BNSF. As soon as we have offical part numbers and pricing we will post on the web site and begin taking orders. For all the latest news just go to www.4nscale.com. Thanks, Mark www.4Nscale.com Yahooooo! BN SD40-2's! Whiteface even! I sure hope they don't show up till '06, since I cannot afford another wallet slam like the CZ and the PA-1s did to me...
That will be cool. I need some 53 foot wells. I still have SD40-2's that I haven't painted up into sar including BN units. Might repaint them into FURX units..... Easy Hemi!!! grant
Kato never ceases to amaze me with the releases and release strategy I think it is good news, though. You can never predict what they'll do or when! How many years has it been since they released SD40-2's??? Harold
They would do much better by releasing a later phase -2's with and without anti-climbers, particularly if announcing BN. These far outnumbered the early models.
What really needs to be done with the newest 40-2's is to mount the headlight in the nose. Most of the BN and SF units had them there.
Did everyone not read this line? >Kato will also be producing the Gunderson Maxi-IV double stack well car in BNSF. Kato doing well cars??? Holy Double Stacks Batman! Kel
"Kato will also be producing the Gunderson Maxi-IV double stack well car in BNSF." And..........that would mean that containers are just months away (?)...............or does KATO already have containers that they sell overseas........
Kato is full of surprises. Could a new steam loco be in the cards as well? Only time will tell. Stay cool and run steam....
Looks like my "Suggest A Model" on their web site might have helped. Or not. Yeah! SD40-2's! Too bad they wont make any ATSF ones. I could use some.
Most probably the early version with the mesh grills. A 88" nose version of the snoot body would be a great seller. Would save me having to chop the snoots, at least!
Agreed. BN never owned snoots, so a snoot is likely not the new release. I am hoping too, that they release a later phase production 'Deuce, with anticlimbers.
Hemi, I tried finding a few photos of "whitefaces" on trainpix.com. Didn' t have a ton of luck. If they did do that paint scheme, what would that mean for me trying to model today? Did a few whitefaces make it this far either unpatched or patched?
Not new news. It's on the new poster that was to be revealed in Cincinnati. Obviously it will not be officially announced till much later since production thru November is already scheduled.
A Beautiful photo indeed. Thanks Gull! Looks like that picture was taken in 2000. So a few unpatched whitefaces would be completely at home on my layout.
Yes the whitefaces maed it through. They are my favorite BN paint scheme next to the 70macs.I do hope they make them in the later version also. And I thought I was done buying engines.Looks like I will need to work even more overtime now.
Here's the numbers you can look for: http://www.fobnr.org/motivepower/whiteface.htm The * next to a number denotes a white seperator stripe.
