Well this is my 1st attempt a layout and starting with a yard. The plan is to build half a Z-bend module that I can mount on a wall as a shelf layout when not combined another similar length layout to form a composite Z-bend module.

While not illustrated, the layout will have a out crop on the one side however the 'back' will remain straight for mounting/combining.

I have the room and base materials to extend it from 4' up to 6' if necessary. Still trying to visualize the scenics so that I don't just have a plywood plains yard. I am looking at modeling mostly contemporary WI/MN rail systems.

Your ideas and input would be much appreciated.

    Paul,

Congratulations to you for doing a great job on your layout design!

With the exception of the length of the classification yard lead, you will be pleased with the operations on this module. The length of the lead can be lengthened when the connection to the adjoining module is constructed.

A good switching design that could be improved with the suggestions made by Jerry. Since you need the other half of the Z-bend module for shows or to hook up with others then you might as well use the second half as your yard lead. As far as the plywood plains... most yards and their surrounds are as flat as the railroad building it can find.

Paul, I think if you incorporate some of your creative modeling ideas that I saw on your laptop then the surrounding terrain won't get much notice anyway.
