Rails, here's a very very simple thing I came up with to greatly improve the look of Atlas HO code 83 turnouts..Go buy a tiny bottle of 'chrome'(Not silver)enamel paint. With a tiny brush, carefully cover those 4 insulated/plastic gap areas where rails converge at the frog.Do the head and sides..Let it dry..it nearly is an exact match with the rest..Also,if your frog is still painted black(gosh knows they do this),bright-boy this off first(only the point, where wheels cross, not the wings) ,giving the frog a chromish polished appearance, then paint the gaps...It lasts a long time,too..Maybe avoid these when doing general bright-boy track cleaning..If it rubs off then ,just do er over..Easy....Finally,take 'grimey black'(like Floquil)and cover all those nasty lookin riveted tabs/plates which hold the point rails on the ties.Carry the paint a tad further onto tie so's it looks naturally ,well,grimey..When done, stand back and take in the nice prototype affect it has !!...I owed you guys one....Mark
Guys, thanks for replys.Didn't think it'd be noticed...No ability for pics yet..But,do do this little touch up..makes quite a difference having those gaps gone..BTW,brand I used is Krylon..Polish the frog point,too..Mark
