Very nice! That's urban planning at its finest.
Quick question. Who makes that purple semi tractor? Is it the Showcase Miniatures kit?

    Thanks!

    Thanks JD
135 driver, you are correct. I bought the real KW new in 1994. Its the 1 thing on my layout that was prototypical.:shade:

It all looks great! but the before and after images are from different angles so it is hard for me to see the changes. Could just be my vision.

I agree. Also, I noticed you have not ballasted your track . I am seeing alot of photos of layouts without ballast or trees etc. Seems to be two schools of thought on this and is reminiscent of the O gaugers with their scale and tinplate devotees. Still I sort of envy those of you who have the ability [and the room] to have a layout. Me, I am not that fortunate and thus I run Ntrak.

Very clever use of the combined stations (Green Max and Vollmer?) to keep the town's architecture consistant and have the flexability to have an underground station platform.

Is the cream/beige building in the background a kitbash or is it a Lunde Studios built-up?

Keep it going it looks good!

I tryed to give overall shots on how the area changed.
    Inkanner,
It will get ballasted, someday. I can only do so much with my hands now.
    Gramps,
Thanks, yes its Lundes. So is the 1 next to it. Its the Gait Tower.

Great Job!I like the feeling of being in a "concrete canyon".Very nice use of the taller vertical elements at the back of the layout, with smaller horizontal elements toward the front. This creates a much deeper sense of depth.I also like the way you have left room at the front of the layout for transitional scenery. The varying angles of streets, bridges and buildings draw the viewers eye in and keeps it moving around, nice visual flow.Whether intended or not,you have an amazing composition of elements that gives a definite big city feel to your layout, congratulations.

    Hey Mike,
Great city scape! Only one problem...... Where is the EL? Too much modern stuff. Hahaha
Seriously, I like the idea of a bi-level city.

Look who's back. I guess we can take you off the MIA list.EL will again dominate soon. For now,the modern stuff (esp. the NJT stuff) help to motivate me alittle more to get back to "real life".

i would say the best change that you made was dithing the old stuff for the nice new Norfold Southern units! The whole change is great, but the locos the best  Where did you get the Horsehead Geeps or whatever they are?

They are SD-40-2's. I did 1(the back unit) & I bought the lead unit on ebay. Its from the new release with ditch lights. Before I got sick,I put the new horseshead on a SD-80,C-44-9W,& an SD-60.

Your layout and the changes you made are the envy of my eye. I particularly liked the way you use the styrofoam cup and plastic cup holder as a on the roof advertisement. Nice touch! Grin!

In Riveside, CA., they have done the same thing. Just across the street from the live steamers park you can find a large replica of a styrofoam cup. Your layout looks interesting and it's good to see some N&S equipment roaming about but I do like the Erie look.

For those of us slowed down by the afflictions of old age and disease we can still accomplish our goals...one step at a time. You are doing well with the layout and it shows.

To Secret Weapon and all tuned in,

What if Erie Lackawanna had survived...great stuff. Nice job on the locomotive.

I still like that styrofoam cup factory. Grin!

A while back, I purchased an Algoma Central, which is similar to the Erie & Lackawanna paint scheme. I was going to use the chassis to power and older SD45. No way was I going to mate the two...not without a lot of work. The unit will provide power to the coal district switching operations and I'm ready to purchase a few more. Good looking paint scheme.

    Have fun!
