It;s about time you get back to work on the "railroad". LOL! Couldn't help it even if does sound corny. I was starting to wonder if you were having so much fun with your real job that you were temporarily abandoning the home road.

Kimberly and I got the first piece of plywood for Franklin Canyon in place today. Will get photos when glue dries and we get back from the movies. :) (Payment for the help! LOL)

Jerry, your layout is definitely my favorite. And that's saying a lot with how much talent keeps popping up on the boards here.

Having recently been out to Pinole to catch 844 along the coast has shown me just how perfectly you have captured the scene. Extraordinary work.

Wow Mark! What a beautiful day to be sitting there filming 844! Wish I was with you. :) Your video has made up my mind.....I am going with the storage tanks on the top of the hill.

Great to see more work on your layout Jerry. This is one of my favorite threads also, I have to agree with Mark that you have done an outstanding job of modelling Pinole.

Kinda late, but it's been storming here, so I stayed in till it quite lighting so much. :)
Here's the first plywood section of Franklin Canyon. This will actually be Glen Frazer.

The pieces of flex are just laid there for reference. But you can see how the ATSF Main Line will go through the backdrop to the plywood. The Pinole side will probably somehow be 'hidden' with trees or something else.

Now, on this side of the backdrop, the ATSF Main Line will exit the east side of tunnel #3. There will be hillside on each side of the tracks going up about 20 or so inches.

From the normal viewing angle, you will be looking back into the cut the tracks go through before the tunnel. I am really hoping this scene turns out well. In N Scale, the effect could be awesome! :)

Glad to see more work, Jerry. Your area is like mine in some ways. I have some dust problems so I keep the water areas covered all the time unless there are visitors.

Hmm, looks like some curved switches are in order for those sidings. ;)

What kind of turnouts will you be using in this area? If you go curved, are you going to use fast tracks or possible the new ones from Atlas in 55 that should be arriving sometime soon? I've seen assembled curved turnouts on ebay at a reasonable price, I think the maker is using the fast tracks system and they look good.

Keep up the good work, I like what I see!

    Again... Wow, Jerry

I wish I had the room you do.

Your going to like operating trains on your layout.

I can't wait to see what you do with the Oakland Piers that served ATSF, SP and WP. Grin!

Only one in this area is curved, and Russell custom made it for me. I am not sure what system he used, but it is a beautiful piece of trackwork!

Russell even put individual tie plates on the side that will face the viewer. Just incredible work!
