Tim, The Luetke pieces are (CNC?) machined styrene. The pattern for the chimney looks way too big for brick but just right for the larger clay masonry blocks that you used to see silos made out of. Oftern used for industrial applications as well. Looks great John! I'm curious what goes under the module since it looks like they must be about 12" to 18" tall. Randy
Randy, The dimensions of the module are 26” L x 11 ¾” W x 4 ½” H (66cm L x 30cm W x 11cm H). Nothing underneath except for wires and the turnout switch. Harry nailed it – I used the Luetke-Modellbahn Boiler House with Chimney for the smoke stack and walls of the Bown Brothers boiler house. John
Randy, That is what so nice about the ZFE standards big enough for some really good details but small enough to store easily. The ZFE guys were good enough to get me an English copy of their standards. They are a great bunch of guys! John
Steve, Cool! The Uncle Sam one would be to early for my era but where did you get the other two from? John
Loren, What an eye for detail you have! Yes the Blue Point is great - accurate, easy to install and best of all its small. Knobs to the throw rods - I just followed the directions on the Blue Point web site http://www.newrailmodels.com/Products/Accessories/BluePoint/BluePoint.htm and used the parts that they recommended (The clevis is Dubro part number 228, the threaded rod is part number 378 for 12" rod and the knob is locking nut part number 2-56). John
Use the Microscale decals, #60-243 for EXCELLENT rendered graffiti and text like: POST NO BILLS, etc. Both white and balck versions. $5 each sheet. While you buying them, the 60-1139 and 1155 Urban Graffiti are stunningly detailed. Lots of tagging ones too (just the letter/fonts type), not just the artwork. Wish I had seen these earlier when I was doing all the cars.
John, When I initially purchased my first Blue Point, the pictures and article about the N scale installation was not on the sight as I recall. I like that knob the gentleman used, but I felt I needed the smallest, low profile knob I could find as they would be exposed to the public at train shows and a small black knob would draw less attention from the wandering eyes of little folks who would most likely want to push/pull any knob they saw. So far, no little hands have played with my knobs )
I finished the pond on my module this week. Trees are a 2” Weeping Willow (part # TR-1068) and two 2” Sycamores (part # TR-1116) from JTTtree http://www.sceneryproducts.com/ and the weeds and cattails are from Ngineering www.ngineering.com part #NS032. John
Your module is extremely convincing, from the tire ruts in the dirt roads to the cattails in the pond, everything looks very realistic! All your structures look real good too!
