Has anyone done business with internettrains.com?? I ordered an Athearn Challenger through them back on Feb 28, and still no loco?? I have sent them 3 emails between then and now, they would reply within a few days, thanking me for my patience, and they say it will be sent soon?? Sounds fishy...I guess I'm just wondering if this place is legit?
Anyone have this happen to them recently??
    Thanks,
    Chuck

They're definitly a legit hobby business. Slow, but legit.

I had an order take three months late last year. They told me that they were waiting for one more set of details I had ordered, which were due to "arrive" within the week. Well, that week turned into 8 weeks and I finally received the whole order after 3.5 months.

Sounds like the Challenger you ordered is back ordered from Athearn and they are giving an excuse other then telling you they are back ordered. Patience is the key ingredient with them.

Keep sending the emails or cancel the order and go with another shop.

If you ordered a DRGW or Clitchfield, I would cancel and order from someone else, if you ordered a UP, just cancel order and preorder from someone else for the next run due late summer, because they are long gone.

    Chuck,
I just noticed you live in Denver. Are both Caboose Hobbies and N Scale Supply sold out? N Scale Supply's website says only the undec and Clinchfield are sold out with them. Might be worth a phone call or visit if your close enough to them.

Just food for thought (and not just because I got my UP version from them either.... :) )

i ordered from internettrains a while ago great prices but they will hold your shipping if an item isnt in. I order 2 stall engine house with a few other things back in dec. by feb 1st still nothing....i was a little annoyed. The website said that everything I had ordered was in stock. So i called in, found out everything was in except the engine house(website was never updated, and the last time i checked it said it was in stock.) I asked where was my order and i was told they were waiting for the engine house. I asked please just split the order, the woman said ok. That was it. Next day everything was shipped except the engine house, the money was refunded for that. So i never got it. All in all I would order again if i needed to save money other wise I have used hobbylinc which I have been pretty happy with. A little slow and a few bucks more on most item but much better service.

Sounds like I'm not the only one with that "operation". I'm going to call and cancel my order, then call George. That's what I should have done in the first place. I have had nothing but the absolute best from Wig Wag.
Thanks for all the replies and good advice guys!

Thanks Paul, as of Today all three are still available (Two DRGW and one UP). Remember that the price includes free Priority Mail in the US, and discounted (below actual cost) International Shipping.

Also remember to get preorders in early for the second run. I have already placed an initial order for all of the models announced for the second run, but early preorders will allow me to boost my ordering even further.

Thanks for your help guys, I managed to get to Caboose in Denver and I think I got their last one...on sale for a bit less than most were offered for. I tested it out when I got home, these Challengers are great!!
Now, all I have to do is sit patiently until somebody produces an FEF-3 and I'll be all set.
Anyone hear anything on a company producing the FEF-3?
    Thanks Guys!!,

The following is purely speculation based on the past trends of Athearn:

They produced an HO Scale Challenger prior to releasing the N Scale Challenger. The N Scale release has pretty much mirrored the HO Scale release about 12 to 18 months behind the HO Scale release.

Athearn has an HO Scale FEF-3 in the works at this time which could be out some time later this year...based on this I would say there is a good chance that we may eventually see an Athearn N Scale FEF-3.

Repetitive Disclaimer - This is only my speculation, athearn HAS NOT announced this release at this time.

OK, so here's the latest. This "business", as mentioned in an earlier post, charged my credit card three days after I notified them to cancel the order, Then sent it anyways. Nice, Huh? They said to refuse the parcel, which I did and my credit card has yet to be refunded...A MONTH LATER!!!!! They are not responding to my emails now, and the phone line just gives you a recorded message. To say I am upset about this kind of treatment is an understatement.

I have never even heard of such horrible business practice, ethics. Its terrible.

Enough ranting, Caboose Hobbies, my local supplier had a challenger left and I bought one there. I LOVE IT!!! I can't wait until Athearn, or somebody makes an FEF-3, then I'll be Really Happy!

Moral of the story, stick with reputable e-commerce companies. There are guys, even in our niche who are out to rob you blind!

Just call up your credit card company and tell them, your disputing the transaction. Be sure to send them a written explanation of the transaction.

    Stay cool and run steam....:cool::cool:

Kevin is great. I got mine in 4 days!!! Not 4 months or never if you order from Internet Trains.
After all the bad experiences related here over the last year or more, why would anyone order from them? They have got to be the worst.

Thanks Bob, I did just that earlier today...they said that the business has thirty days to credit my account. That hurts when you're talking about a few hundred dollars, but it was a very valuable learning experience.
I finally got through to the "business" over the phone just a minute ago, they said they switched companies for their credit card transactions and wouldn't be able to credit my card. Gee...does that sound fishy?? I'm probably going to have to go through the rest of the process with the credit card company to see the money.

I missed the earlier posts about this e-tailer, I'll be certain to check out any new ones I use in the future. It's a shame, I've had excellent service from most all others I've bought from in the past.

    Thanks for the advise guys!
    Chuck
