hey ed they are all ready to go. i'll let them go for hmmm, $3 total plus shipping. :D btw, i'm thrilled that tunnel motors are coming out, and when caseyboy starts building prototypically scaled and detailed engines, i might even get 1 of them since they will cost around $1000.

    OK, a little "schooling":

N is 1:160, which means one actual inch equals 160 in. (13 ft 4 in) in N scale. Or, if you look at it another way, 1 N scale inch is 1/160 of an actual inch.

Taking that into consideration, 2 1/2 inches in N scale is, in real measurements, 5/320 of an inch. That, casey, is mighty dang small any way you cut it. (1/2 inch in N scale is 1/320 of an actual inch. Multiply this by five to get the 2 1/2 inches). Here endeth the lesson.

    Now, my personal opinion:

I work with anal-retentive people in my job- the last place I want to deal with folks like that is in this hobby. If you're bent out of shape over 5/320 of an inch, don't buy the darn thing.

BTW, when I first got into model railroading, I started in N scale, and the locomotives I had were all J-class (junk). They were poorly detailed, ran like scalded cats, and the motors had a half-life measured in hours. This was in the mid-1970s, and I'm sure there are folks here that outrank ME in time in the hobby, and could probably tell more woeful tales than I could.

If I were you, I'd find a scale measuring ruler and look (really LOOK) at the distance 2 1/2 inches takes in N scale. And, after looking at the distance, if you STILL have a problem with the scale, feel free to write Intermountain and take them to task for the difference.

Now if you're just trying to intentionally stir up trouble, may I remind you that this is not the AOL RR forums, and that stuff isn't welcome here. Scott Seibler found that out, and got tossed out on his Husker butt.

    Words of advice.....

kick whomever you want off--and talking about being anal retentive---sounds like some of you are---it was not my reason for making the post in the 1st place --even though it upset so many people--[it was not my intention]--i just wanted to know what other nscalers thought--and i thought that was what trainboard was really about--maybe im wrong---

Hey caseyboy94 (Scott Mclaughlin) did you ever find that fine scale ConCor caboose you were looking for here? Maybe someday you'll have a layout to run it on. We'd all like to see your work. I bet you're waiting for a really big house so you can have prototypical radius. We wouldn't want you to make any compromises.

What we think is that the SP/SSW and DRGW modelers are dancing in the streets over the possibility of an N scale SD40T-2 that isn't brass. What we also think is that TWO AND ONE-HALF INCHES in N scale is not an end-of-the-world deal. And the other thing we're thinking is that the dang thing isn't even OUT yet, and already someone's unhappy. I've only heard one modeler with his or her shorts in a wad over the tunnel motors, even when it was explained to him that 2 1/2 inches in N scale is absolutamente NADA- zip, zilch, zero, bupkus.

And if you're modeling the Frisco, why sweat the tunnel motors? I'm not- I don't care for 'em, but I'm glad they're coming out. GP15-1s, that's another story.........

Now what say you wait for them to come out, and then make your judgement based on observation? Or better yet, contact Intermountain with your concerns. Last I checked, it's OK to ask questions to a company. I'm sure they'll read & respond to your comments.

    hey mopacster....
I expect a 20 year lease on those Bachmanns
$3 over 240 months is just over a penny per month. We must be prototypical!!! Of course, at the end of the lease you can expect them to be returned totally TRASHED and in dire need of mechanical overhaul!!
Hey, I hear the phone ringing..... it's Morrison Knudsen, they want those mopac 80 macs returned ASAP!!

I dont fight fire with fire (water or foam works much better), but sometimes ya gotta fight nitpickers with humor!!

    Have a great week!!

I feel it is time to draw this topic to a close. Maybe we should wait until the things appear before arguing over hair-widths?
