The Deutches Bahn (DB - Federal Railroad) in Germany has long run an IC, or InterCity, service. Kind of like an express or "name train" in the old days, a faster alternative to the runs that stopped at every little hamlet along the way. With the advent of the near-bullet trains, they became ICE.

Reminds me of a cartoon in Model Railroader many years ago. I guy was running an old 4-4-steamer pulling a streamlined observation car. He was telling his friend how his wife had given it to him as a present and he figured he need to run it to stay in her good graces.

THE ICE runs smooth and Very quiet..
ICE stands for Inter Ciry Express.
They are usually 4 carriages long but there is an 8 Carriage Version that has a resturaunt Carriage

Don, You have Thrown down a challenge I wonder can any one else top that ??

Any Dealer that can get Kato can get the Japanese trains..
The only problem is most of them come as a 6 or 8 Carriage Set that can cost $$$

If you are after the ICE train.. Fleischmann do Two Models, the ICE2 which I have and the ICE-T (No it is not some Rapper)
Which is the new Tilt Train Version
Both are very well built but can cost an arm and a Leg...
The Carriages for my ICE2 are $116AUS each..

Depending on the manufacturer, many shops (including some seen here) carry them.
