Here are two units I painted and detailed a while ago.

This first unit is a NS SD45 that I messed up the hand rails on (they should be yellow). It has the SD35 high hood short hood on it and my own All Weather Windows [IMG].

This is a picture of a H II C44 I painted. The photo is on my module.

I need to get a digital camera so I can post pics of my superdetailed and custom painted Union Pacific E9s (951,963b,949) that pull the business train.

Here is another paint job I did early last year.

In the picture the locomotive is not done and you can see the hand rails need to be touched up.

Here are a couple samples of my modeling. An IC GP30 with correct AAR type B trucks, underframe bell, sinclair antenna, and cab sunshades. Painted with PollyScale oily black cut with steam power black and glossed with a mix of 50/50 lacquer thinner and testors glosscote. Then decaled with MS IC new image set. The sill stripe is being reworked due to the slight serve upwards, I am masking it now and repainting it rather than decaling. A little history behind 2250, she is former GM&O 500, the first of the GP30s for GM&O and also the only GP30 to wear the Deathstar scheme. She was retired in 1993 and sold off to NREX. The highhood GP35 will be a NS unit, most likely a former SOU unit that roamed the system around the Piedmont until retirement in 1991. Thanks for starting a great topic [IMG]

    Have a good one, Justin

John, I personally recommend the Nikon Coolpix 950, or the replacement 990. Apart from taking awesome shots, I like the swivel body that allows me to get down low for the shots and still see the LCD screen.

    Gary.

I'll show my A&A GP38RS also called by the crews "MATE-38's". They are 25 GP38 s bought from Norfolk Southern at the time of the merger as they were still in Conrail paint. The A&A had the side doors removed except for 2 on each side. they are #3700-3724. they still have Dynamics and have a 3,600 12 cyl. engine rebuilt in the North Parkersburg shops. only 6 have been repainted to the A&A's blue & creme, and the rest are still in primer and look like crap [IMG]

    PIC is here:

Thanks Gary for your recommendation on the digital camera. One more question, do you have to use a pinhole lense for closeups of models? This may sound like a real dumb question, but I have to start learning about our new hitech world somewhere. Thanks John Nutt

John if you go to my site 90% of pictures were taken by gary using his digiatal camera, all were without the use of a pinhole card.

    Paul,
Thanks for your response. I'll start my search for the Nikon Coolpix this weekend. Say, that addition to your existing layout sure looks like it will increase your operating capabilities a great deal. I"ve adopted your idea of building my layout in several sections. Sure makes more sense than trying to do the whole thing at once. I've done it that way in HO and It was almost 18 mths before the first train ran. WHEW. Regards
