i have been busy getting the painting and decaling done on my Montana Central Locos, here are the (almost) complete ones. MC 1002 H10-44, still requires weathering and a few more detail parts, may replace the end handrails with wire as they are far to thick.
MC 102, Slug rebuilt from an ex ATSF GP7, again still needs some details and weathering, I also noticed I have not painted the yellow on the handrails!
Last of all (as my RS2m is still not painted!) is MC S1 603, all details have been added, but needs weathering and yellow on handrails. Sorry about the out of focus shots I will take some fresh ones later on.
How do you apply the safety striping? I'm considering doing something similar for my shortline locos but I've never applied safety before.
The end stripes were quite easy to do. First I made a paper template for each half of the end, then I cut round them on the Mircoscale chevron sheet, then matched up the other side and cut that out as well.
Nicely done! AN all-Alco (well, one Fairbanks-Morse) roster, with the only EMD being a slug! Any future diesels coming in the MC scheme?
The MC will be purchasing some larger locos due to the rebuilding and extending of the line (slated for late January), the locos being eyed up are C628, C630, C420 and there are rumors that an Ex SP H24-66 may be purchased. The slug is not powered, I onlt built that as I had it nocking about..... I also have a non powered FA1 that may become a slug someday.
From the Department of Corrections: You may know that Atlas has an RS32 in their Trainman line.......would look nice in MC colors with, say, an RS11 between two of 'em......... Told ya wrong on the RS27- IIRC, that's a Proto2000 offering. The RS32 is definitely Atlas Trainman.
Thats good to know, been looking for Proto ones but they never seem to come up for sale at a decent price.
