Howdy all!! We I have been off the whole week of thanksgiving so I decided to buckle down and work on the layout, seeing that I am a lone wolf modeler,LOL. Worked on a bunch of different things,, built some benchwork, laid some more track, wired up the tortoises for Wisconsin Pipe and Steel and the big yard. Installed a CVP AD4MC accy decoder to control two crossovers. Tore some track up in one of the big yard throats as to have a crossover going to the lead. The tortoises were all ready in place cept for one crossover, so just had to hook the wire backup. On the previous layout I soldered the feeders and the power drops for the switch machines, but now I used a mechanical connection, scotchlock to be precise. Much neater and less solder on my legs while wearing shorts. I have a freind who is coming back from Iraq, and I wanted to be able to run trains when he comes back. Also installed a new turnout for access to the refinery/chemical plant that I am currently working on. I am using a push-pull cable to control that turnout. First time. Once I can work out the kinks I will do more TO's like that. So here are some pics. Enjoy More to come. Adios, Wyatt more to come, adios Wyatt
Lookin' good Wyatt. You should start a blog about your progress. I'm going to for my little layout I'm working on as soon as I get the track plan drawn up.
Hey man.. looks great! If I can ever get my stupid PC at home to work right again I'll get Xtrak fired back up to work on track plans. I haven't forgotten about ya! LOL! 'course by then you may have a whole layout finished! LOL! Mike C Phoenix
Thanx guys, I miss my old layout. Doug has been there done that ,lol. I still am trying to avoid a duckunder. Once again Doug can atest to the pain it was. I am thinking about making the large yard " visable staging" Right now the plan is to run point to point. Just swapping car for car and running yard transfers. I like switching!!!!!! I need some people to come over and work the bugs out. I plan to hook up the other throat,, and run a branch line serving a aggregate plant, and a large grain elevator. Well adios for now, WYT
Thanx for the comments!!! Geek, there is no track plan,,,,, I just lay track to what I think will look and work good. Jeremiah, one side of a two car garage ( so far). Right now, about 15' 7" down one side. about 11' 6" across the middle. then the yard is about 10' long. I am thinking about just taking one side up, but then again,,, once I get HVAC in the garage, look out!!!! Well adios for now, Wyatt
outside, lol. the garage is a place for trains not autos.lol. My refuge from the family, lol. Rich why did u move??? Adios Wyt
Jhazelwood,,,, that is just one end of the yard, in the pic you don't see the other section that has the other throat on it. With the big yard complete, I can hold 90 50' freight cars. Go steelers, That is why I needed to get the layout back up in some fashion. That whole deal kind of ruined my modeling spirit. Well it is back now,, and here to stay. Sorry to see your team having a season like mine ( packers) . But tried and true fans stick with thier teams thru everything. Adios , Wyt
Had some family issues so I made the move back home. I miss Dallas and really miss Discount Model Trains but you gotta do what you gotta do right?
You got that right Rich!!! I just wish I had one more week off,, I could have gotten alot more done. I have not been to DMT in a coons age. No money cause I have seemed to misplace that tree that grows that green paper like stuff,LOL Adios WYT
