It doesn't mention anything else about future releases yet, but the Shinkansen are "standard" gauge and these local commuter trains are narrow gauge (3 1/2" I think), so they might end up a slightly different scale on the same track. Or they may just compromise on the gauge like the "ZJ" gauge trains do.

I don't care what they are, as long as they use Kato style electrical pickup. I can build a body, track, and anything else needed and call it what ever scale it works out to be, just as long as I can get it! :D

    "Amish Z scale Society"

i'm advocating the "Amish Z scale Society" -- we draw the line at Z and go no smaller. i'm afraid we going to end up "Nano scale" -- and i just can't do that. it ain't right!

Hey, I'm looking forward to this stuff as a parts source for Z narrow gauge. A DRGW fan like you should be interested in that one would think. ;-)

Smaller metal wheels and the code ? (but at least we know it's smaller than code 55) rails look promising. Motors, we'll have to see what they are using.

Z scale at 1/220 looks just right to me. You can still see detail if you look for it and you can get in a reasonable amount of scenery.

Didn't that Australian Mechanical Engineering professor that built the 1/240 live steam trains do electric trains in 1/480th scale as well? As I recall, they ran, but the detail was pretty sparse.

I'll stick to Z but am still interested in seeing where this T scale goes. If it progresses and the DCC bandwagon gets caught up in the T scale then it would seem reasonable to deduct the decoders for T scale would fit just about anything Z would have to offer.:D

you're not helping me, guys. if robert pray gets drawn away to "T" where will that leave us who need his ideas, products, laser kits, etc.?

what i'm advocating is simply "self protection for Z scalers!"
    dave

(p.s. yes, i too am interested to see where this goes and how it works for Z applications. i just don't pray59 to get too distracted. work with me, here. work with me).

Oh, I absolutely agree Dave. Keep in mind there are no switches planned for this as of yet, and it's not even supposed to be released until next year. If availability is anything like the ZJ stuff, it will be hard for us to get over here.

I'm wondering why they picked 1:450? It is used for some ship models but 1/350 or 1/700 are much more popular. I guess that must just be the maximum of their technology. About that technology, I'm still waiting for more details.
