Apparently Eurostar service is about to compete head-to-head against air travel between London and Paris, Amsterdam, Cologne, Strasbourg, and Zurich..... http://www.trains.com/trn/default.aspx?c=a&id=1128
Business travellers are already using Eurostar more between London and Paris/Brussels. (Easy to get some work done on the train, which is a big plus). I know which method of travel I would prefer.
I've been on the Eurostar but only between Kings Cross and Peterborough when it was used for services from London to Leeds. A 45 Min journey but hey that's a start! :teeth:
Aha! I forgot that I had ridden on a (GNER) Eurostar between Doncaster and Wakefield VERY nice ride  Must try the 'real' ones!
Tut, tut, mate! Chiming in late with a 'oh, yeah, I remember when...' and to hit 12K posts too! Shame, shame...
Nice work on the 12k! We went to Paris on it last year - lovely ride quality and really impressive acceleration. Doing nealy triple the speed of traffic on the adjacent motorway was quite impressive too!
I have been on the adjacent motorway doing the legal 81 mph, and passing Eurostars make you feel like you are standing still! It seems that SNCF want to hire the 'North of London' sets now that GNER no longer uses them, to relieve pressure on some TGV's, but that they could not be used on some TGV routes as they would not be able to keep time due to lower power/weight ratio!
