What impresses me most are the semaphores. They are so much easier to read (see?) than searchlights, even on black backgrounds. However, now that I have written this, I realize that, during an English Fog, a semaphore is virtually invisible until the driver is directly beneath it. Whereas a searchlight can penetrate a few hundred metres of fog before becoming obscured. I guess modern in-cab signals are still better than either, nostalgia be damned! :teeth:
As the loco was sitting there for a while waiting to run round, I knew there would be some good clag when it started moving, so I had camera poised!
